Riddle, an archaeologist; Sena M. Loyd, a research librarian; and Stacy L. Branham and Curt Thomas, officers of the Nevada State Prison.

Stand up! with Occupy Carson City participants as we speak out against government failures and corporate abuses on Saturdays from 12-2pm. As fellow citizens, we will peacefully rally for immediate change on the public sidewalks in front of the State Legislative building at 401 S. Carson St. downtown.
We have music and plenty of signs; feel free to bring a flag, your own sign, and any musical instrument (small drums, flutes and maracas are nice for our short marches).

Come and taste the best beer and pizza in the region, and vote for your favorite. You can also enjoy the Final Four on TV at the same time, or take part in basketball shooting contests. There will be a live auction for trips and events, a silent auction for great local gifts, and a drawing for a Samuel Adams trip to Boston.

Workshop and Clinic for Self-Represented Litigants

The next clinic is scheduled on Thursday, March 22nd. The 1:00 workshop will provide general instructions and assistance regarding the completion of self-help forms for those who are self-represented litigants. A Notary Public will also be available. Following the self-help workshop, a free legal education clinic will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Family Law Education will be the topic covered on the 22nd.

Data collection for Lake Tahoe travel mode survey begins today
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 02/24/2012 - 8:35amThe Tahoe Regional Planning Agency will conduct travel surveys with visitors and residents at several recreational and commercial locations throughout the Basin beginning this Friday, February 24. The interviewing, to be carried out by a professional survey research company, is scheduled to take place through Sunday, March 4. Surveyors will wear badges while patrolling survey sites. Results from the Travel Mode Survey will be used to track the success of and help plan multi-modal travel options around Lake Tahoe.

The event is limited to 80 attendees. Each will receive a glass of wine and tastings from the three new menus offered by Charlie Abowd, chef and owner of the establishment.
“We’re showcasing selections from the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus,” said Karen Abowd, project president. “This is an opportunity for the community to see the changes we’ve made at Café at Adele’s, to enjoy an evening of fantastic food and support the work of The Greenhouse Project.”

Grace Christian Academy will host a school-wide open house for prospective families from 5:00 – 7:00p.m. on Tuesday March 6.
GCA is a Kindergarten through 8th Classical Christian School. Christopher Perrin describes, “Classical education is a long tradition of asking questions and digging up answers, consulting others, then asking, seeking and finding once more.” The open house will offer attendees the opportunity to learn about classical education, tour the campus, and meet the school’s staff.

It is the story of a gentleman farmer who was moved to action and service for his country when he was needed most. His life demonstrated the true meaning of the phrase “Duty, Honor, Country.”
Opening on Carson City Debt Management Commission

The Commission provides a cursory review of proposed bonded indebtedness, makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors based upon statutory limits on Ad-Valorem, rates and tax caps, and establishes debt management policies. Meetings are held at least every August and February and may also meet at the call of the Chairman.
There is one (1) opening for a “Public-at-Large” to fill a one-year term, expiring January 2013.

March 17, 2012 is the world famous Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry. Anyone who wishes to sign up to cook will be given 40 pounds of beef "fries" as part of their $100 application/permit fee. This event takes place on St. Patricks day so there will also be a fun parade at noon. Craft vendors, non profits and local companies are also invited to purchase a booth space.

Millions Could Overlook Valuable Tax Credit
CARSON CITY, NEVADA-Millions of workers could overlook a special federal tax credit because they don't know about it. As a result, they could miss out on up to $5,751 extra in their federal income tax refunds through the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC. Last year, on average, the credit boosted refunds for eligible workers by $2,100.
