Registration open for Carson City Symphony’s 'Strings in the Summer' program

Carson City Symphony Association’s “Strings in the Summer,” a program for string-instrument players of all ages and experience levels, will begin on Friday, July 14, 2023. Two sessions will be held on four consecutive Friday mornings at St. Paul's Lutheran Family Church, 1201 N. Saliman Road, just north of Carson High School. Registration and tuition are free, donations welcome.

Enhanced summer downtown Carson City patrol now includes Sheriff’s Mounted Unit

The Carson City Sheriff is pleased to announce the activation of an enhanced summer downtown patrol effort that now includes the presence of the Sheriff’s Mounted Unit.

With the assistance of the departments Traffic Enforcement Team, this two year-long initiative was implemented this past weekend by having a team of mounted unit officers added to the regular patrol coverage of the area.

UPDATE: A 19-year-old man was arrested Friday for suspicion of possession of more than 1 ounce of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and lesser offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
