Levitt AMP organizers hopeful for improved air quality ahead of tonight's concert in Carson City

Despite poor air quality in Carson City and the surrounding areas due to multiple active fires, the Brewery Arts Center plans to move forward with the third weekend of the Levitt AMP concert series tonight at 7 p.m.

According to Gina Lopez, executive director at the BAC, organizers hope for afternoon wind to blow out some of the smoke.

Carson City's air quality, according to airnow.gov, is reported to be 176 AQI, or unhealthy, as of approximately 12:55 p.m.

RENO — Hot August Nights, the week-long celebration dedicated to classic cars and classic music, returns for its 34th year starting July 30, 2021. Picking up from the 2020 postponement, since 1986 thousands of classic cars and car lovers from near and far descend on the Reno-Tahoe region to participate in one of the largest annual classic car events in the world.

Carson City school board to give informational update about school zone signage at Tuesday meeting

The next Carson City School District Board will be meeting on Tuesday, July 27 at 7 p.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room inside the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

Items to be discussed during the meeting include an informational update regarding school zone traffic signage, including flashing beacons and speed feedback signs. These items are for discussion only.

Tamarack Fire gains acreage overnight; air quality worsens throughout Carson City region

UPDATE 2:22PM: Alpine County Sheriff's have removed mandatory evacuations for the area of Mesa Vista, according to Tamarack Fire Information.

Residents must have proof of residence to bypass the road closure. SR 88 will remain closed to non-residents. Additional evacuations are possible due to fire activity, said the Alpine County news release.

Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak declared a state of emergency in Douglas County in response to the ongoing Tamarack Fire.

Declaring a state of emergency ensures resources from the local, state, and federal levels are available to assist as needed during this emergency.

The Mike Tice Foundation charity weekend tees off ‘for the kids’

For ten years, The Mike Tice Foundation has brought donors from across the country to the Carson Valley in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. This past weekend, July 15-17, the event was back to raise critical funds for the youth of Carson Valley.

The Charity Weekend “For the Kids” included a football clinic with Coach Tice & Friends at the Carson Valley Boys & Girls Club. Ray and Brenda Robertson of Carson Valley provided shoes for nearly 100 kids in the clinic, and Chicago Mike’s provided food for the day.
