Large earthquake south of Coleville felt throughout Carson City region
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 07/08/2021 - 3:59pmUPDATE 4:47PM: Caltrans is detouring traffic on U.S. 395 from the Nevada state line to State Route 182 in Bridgeport. Maintenance crews are working to remove the fallen rocks. There is not an estimated time of opening US-395 at this time.

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake happened at 3:49 p.m. Thursday and was centered in the Coleville area on the California side, South of Gardnerville, according to the USGS. The quake was felt throughout Carson City and the region.
