Suspects sought in Carson City mailbox thefts

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday received multiple reports from business owners located off Arrowhead Drive. These businesses reported being victims of mail theft. The suspects appear to be forcibly breaking into mailboxes and stealing the contents.

Services available for Carson City seniors during heatwave

NDOT seeks public comment as it considers policy for roadside memorials, secondary highway names

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Transportation is soliciting public feedback to establish formal policies for the installation of roadside memorials on state roads and highways as well as creating secondary highway names to honor Nevada public servants.

Through July 31, Nevadans can visit www.dot.nv.gov/memorials to provide input. The survey is intended to capture feedback of Nevada residents and those who use Nevada highways. Public comment will also be solicited as a draft roadside memorial policy is developed.

Volunteers remove nearly 1,500 pounds of trash Monday from Lake Tahoe beaches

Lake Tahoe beaches were still blanketed in morning shadows when volunteers began plucking cigarette butts, bottle caps and beach toys out of the sand early Monday, July 5. By noon, 235 enthusiastic volunteers had removed 1,456 pounds of litter from 10 Tahoe beaches and their surrounding areas as part of the League to Save Lake Tahoe’s annual July 5 Keep Tahoe Red, White and Blue Beach Cleanup.

Vehicle crashes through fence on Little Lane near Saliman, driver jailed for suspicion of DUI

At approximately 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Carson City first responders were called to a single vehicle crash at Saliman and Little Lane. Initially reported as a vehicle that went into a house, first responders found a vehicle lodged upright into a wood fence next to a residence.
