New Campus Celebration with Silver State Charter School

July 27, 2012 - 12:00pm Silver State Charter Schools will celebrate the relocation of the campus on Friday, July 27 at noon.
Dedication and ribbon cutting will be a part of this event, including an open house, tours and refreshments until 3 P.M.
The location of the event is at 788 Fairview Drive.
Hello Dolly! Auditions set for August 7-9

August 7, 2012 (All day) The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company invites auditions for the timeless and irresistible classic, Hello, Dolly!, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in room 207 of the Aspen Building at the WNC Carson City campus.
The production will play weekends at the Carson City Community Center, Nov. 3-18. Matchmaker extraordinaire Dolly Levi decides to fast talk her way into a match of her own in this ebullient and irresistible story of the joy of living.
A Face in the Crowd starring Andy Griffith

August 1, 2012 - 6:00pm A Face in the Crowd, a film debuting Andy Griffith in his first major role, will be presented at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1st, at the Carson City Library.
The film will be hosted by former state archivist Guy Rocha and Reno News and Review editor Dennis Myers. The movie was directed and produced in 1957 by Elia Kazan, and written by Budd Schulberg. This film, which launched Griffith into stardom in the lead role as Larry “Lonesome” Rhodes, also stars actors Patricia Neal, Anthony Franciosa, Walter Matthau, and Lee Remick.
Carson City’s Cycle Pub to take part in I-580 Freeway Opening

July 28, 2012 - 7:00am Carson City’s Cycle Pub will take part in Saturday’s I-580 Freeway opening. The vehicle will be sponsored by Carson City Commercial Real Estate Agent Brad Bonkowski.
Bonkowski wants to call attention to the freeway opening, saying it is good news for Carson City. The faster commute time between Carson City and the I-80 manufacturing corridor will help the area attract small manufacturing and industrial businesses.

This is the last of a four part series on our 2012 adventure in the Yukon, and this article is about our fishing experiences in that part of Canada.
One of the few remaining items on my personal “Bucket List” had been to catch an Arctic Grayling in the Far North, and that goal was finally attained, while traveling for six days in the Yukon back country with our longtime and good friends, Barry and Susan Drury of Watson Lake, Yukon.

Chris Strait kicks off the Wednesday night events. He is an expert on people and reminds us how funny life can be. You may have seen him on E! or Tru-TV’s, “The Smoking Gun.”
Seating is limited. There is no cover; however, there is a two drink minimum.

Romney Hammers Obama On Foreign Policy, National Security Leaks, In Comments In Reno
Submitted by Nevada News Bureau on Tue, 07/24/2012 - 2:30pmRENO – Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney went on the attack against President Obama today in a speech to attendees of the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention here, criticizing him for national security leaks, weak foreign policy and a failure to seize on political opportunities in such countries as Iran.
Romney, speaking to the same group that Obama addressed on Monday, spent his 27-minute talk focusing on his foreign policy views and the need to maintain a strong military presence.
Fernley 95A Speedway Race Results for July 21, 2012

The Hobby Stock division led off, with Tom Haxall of Verdi taking the lead from pole and building a margin over Sun Valley’s Rick Miller and Jake Baker of Reno. Carl Barlow of Silver Springs, who won from the back of the field two weeks ago, wasted no time charging through the field to second place. Newcomer Haxall didn’t realize that the track rules call for racing back to the yellow, so when the first caution came out for two cars spinning in turn two, he lost the lead to Barlow.
