Clutch pitching, defense help Senators top Greenwave, 2-1
FALLON -- So, how does a softball team manage to win an important game after giving up five errors and five walks?
It didn't come easily, but the Carson Senators were able to combine a two-run third inning rally with some clutch pitching by senior Daria Leid and timely defense into a 2-1 Sierra League victory against Fallon on a chilly and overcast Thursday afternoon at Ed Arciniega Athletic Complex.
Leid pitched a complete game two-hitter -- leaving 11 Fallon base runners stranded along the way, eight in scoring position -- as Carson evened its league record at 2-2 (3-4 overall) and moved into a tie with Fallon in the standings. Carson hosts Fallon in a double header on Saturday to complete the three-game series.
