University of Nevada, Reno Extension is offering a free webinar June 19 to help small-business owners learn about one form of assistance, the Paycheck Protection Plan.

District Court Judge to speak at Carson Dems' tele-luncheon

"Jim" Wilson, Jr., presiding judge for Department II of the First Judicial District Court, which serves Carson City and Storey Counties. First elected in 2008, Judge Wilson was re-elected unopposed in the 2014 primary and was re-elected again running unopposed in this year's primary.

Carson City Library welcomes back patrons in Monday opening

After nearly 2-1/2 months of being closed due to COVID-19, the Carson City Library reopened Monday with patrons perusing and checking out books, ebooks and audiobooks from the library’s OverDrive collection.

RENO — With many of Nevada’s small businesses now reopened or planning to reopen soon, many of them are experiencing cash flow challenges. University of Nevada, Reno Extension is offering a free webinar June 12 to help small-business owners learn about generating reports related to cash flow, and how to anticipate, and prepare for and manage cash flow fluctuations.

Carson City Library reopening Monday with reduced hours

On Monday the Carson City Library is reopening to the public with the hours of 1-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Curbside pick-up service will continue to be available 10 a.m.-noon, Monday through Friday.

“We’re thrilled to be able to welcome the community back to the library,” said Tod Colegrove, director of the Carson City Library. “Because of the governor’s directive and to ensure everyone stays as safe as possible, we’ve had to limit hours and staffing. We’ll also still have curbside pick-up for those who might be hesitant to come into the public facility.”

May is Mental Health Awareness Month: Now more than ever, mental health needs to be acknowledged

It is hard to believe that two months ago we were all going about business as usual, going to the mall, to the gym, seeing family and friends and having dinner together at our favorite restaurant. Now, with life in lockdown, the way forward feels uncertain and bleak. We are faced with a pandemic we didn’t see coming, which has caused an economic crisis and cost many lives. This is particularly difficult to think about when you consider those most affected are the elderly and people with pre-existing medical conditions.

Two Carson City educators nominated for Nevada Teacher of the Year

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce Ms. Christina Bourne and Ms. Jennifer Chandler have both been nominated and will have the opportunity to compete for “Nevada State Teacher of the Year.” The two were nominated because both have earned accreditations as National Board Certified Teachers.
