Cab Calloway Orchestra, Feast of Chocolate, Artsy Fartsy jewelry show and more: Carson City region readies for weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

Carson City’s Junior Victory Rollers Roller Derby Team raising funds to Head to LA

Carson's very own junior roller derby team has been invited to compete in Los Angeles, CA and it is a pretty big deal.

The Carson Junior Victory Rollers are headed to the Shamblock Shake tournament hosted by Los Anarchists roller derby team to compete on behalf of our great city. It was an honor for us to be invited and we hope we can make you all proud and come back with a win.

Parade and carnival, Pow Wow, pancakes and more: Carson City set for Nevada Day weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region Friday through Sunday to celebrate Nevada Day. Activities include the annual parade down Carson Street, a carnival at Mills Park, the 30th annual Nevada Day Classic, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, beard and rock drilling contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit kids and adults of all ages.

CHS Class of 85 Reunion Aug. 11 at Westside Pour House

Carson High Class of 1985 is gathering at Westside Pour House from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 11. The band One Way Street will provide music. We are also honoring our classmates who have passed. All classes are welcome.

Westside Pour House is located at 110 W Telegraph St, Carson City.

Penguin Taco Tuesday at The Westside Pourhouse

Please come join in on the community fun happening during the first and third Tuesdays of every month. The nostalgic Penguin taco will be featured at the Westside Pourhouse, located at 110 W Telegraph Street. The Pourhouse will be open at 11:30 AM; however, I bet if you show up at or a little before 11 they will let you in, wink wink. The specialty item will be featured all day. With plenty of tortillas and a smooth delivery delivery process, the Pourhouse will have your tacos ready within minutes. This is a fantastic way to get out and mingle with your community.

Blinky Man bicycles light up the night during annual Carson City ride

Blinky Man took over streets of the city on Saturday evening. The annual costume nighttime bike ride took to the streets at 7:30 p.m. and after stopping at a number of bars and pubs throughout Carson City, concluded around midnight. Riders dressed themselves in neon colors, tutus and crazy hats. They also also adorned their bikes in lights to illuminate their nighttime ride.

'Who's Your Paddy?' Carson City St. Patrick's Day Film Crawl set for Saturday

A St. Paddy's Film Crawl will be held Saturday, March 14, from 4 to 10 p.m. at various locations around downtown Carson City.

The St. Paddy's Film Crawl is a filmmaking competition that combines filmmakers with local businesses. Films are either short documentary or mockumentary and are between 1 and 10 minutes long.​ The event is hosted by the Brewery Arts Center, Wired Wednesday and Carson TV. The crawl is open to everyone, and includes film viewing, specials, entertainment and more.

Halloween is on a Friday this year. This means you can stay up late and ride Blinky Man Halloween! Blinky Man is a costumed bike ride at night, with lights, through Carson City.

Carson High class of 1969 celebrates its 45th reunion with meet and greet, barbecue

The Carson High Class of 1969 will hold a 45th reunion Friday Sept. 12 at Westside Pourhouse, 110 W Telegraph St. for a meet and greet.

We invite classes 1966 through 1972, and teachers.

Saturday will be a barbecue for classmates only at the home of Paul Sinnott.
