Summit Estates Senior Living and Memory Care, a Mission Senior Living community, is expanding its memory care neighborhood with a 3,200 square-foot addition that includes accommodations for eight additional residents. The $900,000 construction project began on Feb. 28 and is expected to take about six months to complete.

CARSON CITY — USDA Rural Development State Director Phil Cowee announced Tuesday that residents in 15 of Nevada’s rural and frontier counties will gain access to healthcare through recently approved federal broadband grants.

Companies seeking wellness plans for their employees are encouraged to attend orientations hosted by 6Weekworkout on Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at the business’s new key code circuit training facility at 3476 Executive Pointe Way, Suite 15, in Carson City.

6Weekworkout is the first business of its kind in the nation to be part of a state Wellness program, said owner Colleen Bannister.

She sees the new circuit training facility as an answer to companies wanting to start wellness programs.

Aspire, a local wellness studio in Carson City, will hold its first Workshop 'Finding your Happiness Element' for the general public on Nov. 22, at 5:30 p.m.

The workshop will have several components including the relationship between wealth and happiness, how happiness effects health, basic human instincts, and aptitude exercises.

The Nevada Business Group on Health announces its Building Common Knowledge presentation on the topic of Value-Based Benefit Design, a health benefit savings strategy that draws on a variety of incentive strategies that address the way health insurance plans are structured and utilized by employees and their dependents.

The seminar, led by benefit design thought-leader and Executive Director of the Mississippi Business Group on Health, Murray Harber will be held at noon at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino on June 12, 2014.

The Nevada Business Group on Health, a non-profit organization dedicated to representing more than 70 Northern Nevada employers and their employees in matter related to cost-effective health, health care and health insurance products and services, has appointed Denise Darling, director of finance at Carson Nugget Casino in Carson City, to its board of directors.

North Lake Tahoe takes its music outdoors with a variety of live concerts, festivals and headliner events – all part of the destination’s High Notes: North Lake Tahoe Summerlong Music series, running June through September.
