CARSON CITY — 2018 marks the 10-year anniversary for Pets of the Homeless, the only national nonprofit organization focused on feeding and providing care to pets of homeless people. In celebration of this milestone, Pets of the Homeless will host an open house July 27, from noon to 6 p.m. at its headquarters in Carson City, 400 West King Street.

The Pets of the Homeless annual wellness veterinary clinic at Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, on Saturday May 19 in Carson City was a success, organizers say.

It’s going to be a chili weekend, and that has nothing to do with the weather. The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Families will have a hard time choosing between the Cops and Kids Open House and Safety Fair at the Sheriff’s Office and the ‘Kids to Parks’ Day activities at Silver Saddle Ranch. In an effort to keep Carson City safe from pet infectious diseases Pets of the Homeless is sponsoring a free pet wellness clinic. The clinic will be held at FISH, 138 E. Long St. on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The clinic will start at 9 a.m. the first 100 pets will be seen by veterinarians and their staff from Sierra Veterinary Hospital, Timberline Animal Hospital, Carson City Animal Shelter. As an added service, Pets of the Homeless will be sponsoring the free spay/neuters through CASI’s Critter Fixer program.

Pets of the Homeless, the only national nonprofit organization focused on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of homeless people, is looking to expand its national network of veterinarians to provide emergency veterinary care.

Reno, NV – Pets of the Homeless is sponsoring Galena Veterinary Hospital to participate in this year’s Project Homeless Connect 2018. Dr. Ford along with staff and volunteers from Pets of the Homeless will be offering a basic exam, vaccinations and nail trims to attendees on January 30, 2018 at the Reno Event Center. Pets of the Homeless has sponsored this wellness clinic since 2011. If a pet is ill or injured, the client is referred to Pets of the Homeless to apply for immediate emergency care.

Pets of the Homeless wellness veterinary clinic at FISH on Saturday, May 20, was a success. Genevieve Frederick, founder of Pets of the Homeless and sponsor of the clinic, announced that 73 pets where seen and are now safe from infectious diseases. Dr. Gary Ailes of Sierra Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Mike Pulver of Timberline Animal Hospital and his staff, and Dr. David Kowalek and Dr. Micaela Kowalek of the Humane Society provided services.

It’s going to be gorgeous all weekend long, and there are plenty of ways to take advantage of the sunny weather. With thousands of pets at stake across the United States, Pets of the Homeless has begun its annual fundraising campaign in an effort to help homeless individuals keep their furry companions healthy.
