Dean Heller, passed the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on Wednesday. The legislation, created alongside senators Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Harry Reid, D-Nevada and Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., provides federal, state, and local partners important tools to reduce wildfire threats, improve water clarity, jumpstart innovative infrastructure projects, and combat invasive species.

NDOT nearly finished with Highway 50 Clear Creek drainage project

Senator Square: CHS students work alongside medical professionals at RAM event

HOSA students served as interpreters, place holders, registration assistants, dental scribes, and vision care assistants.
The students were able to put the skills that they learn in class to use. They also gained valuable experience by working alongside dentists, doctors, nurses, and optometrists. The RAM event served more than 900 people in the Carson City area.

The good news: Mid-lake water clarity improved significantly in 2014, with an average reading of 77.8 feet. That’s 7.5 feet greater than the average reading for 2013, and almost 14 feet greater than the 64.1 feet measured in 1997, Lake Tahoe’s lowest recorded clarity.
UNR researcher: Big fish disappearing indicates freshwater ecosystem crisis

“These big fish are in a steep decline,” Zeb Hogan, conservation biologist and researcher in the University of Nevada, Reno’s College of Science, said. “The disappearance of aquatic animals is a freshwater extinction crisis.”

On Wednesday a select number of people were allowed to see what is ultimately coming to Carson City. While a firm date has not been set, an opening is forthcoming within the coming weeks, perhaps even days.

House Passes Amodei's Nevada Native Nations Lands Act
Submitted by editor on Mon, 12/01/2014 - 3:57pmBy suspension vote, the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday passed the Nevada Native Nations Lands Act, legislation sponsored by Congressman Mark Amodei of Nevada's second district.
The legislation includes six tribal land measures, as well as a smaller conveyance to the City of Elko. The bill was amended to match the Senate version, which was reported out of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee in August.

“We are moving into an era of epic collaboration,” Jewell said, explaining that regional partnerships across jurisdictional boundaries are more important than ever for the federal department that manages 20 percent of our nation’s land.
$12.5 million in federal money OK'd for Incline Village to Highway 50 improvements
