Survivors of Carson City infant hostage situation now facing potential eviction

It was a day like any other when ShaRae Staley woke on August 3 in her home on N. Edmonds Street in Carson City. She received a message from her husband, who she had separated from six weeks previous, that he wanted to come over and make their children breakfast and take them to the park. ShaRae agreed, as any mother would.

When her husband, Cortney Staley, arrived, nothing seemed amiss. He came and made their children breakfast, and she went to work.

'Show and Shine' Fundraiser held for Carson City man in critical condition after car accident

A fundraiser is being held for local Carson City man John "JT" Tomaroy, who was involved in a head-on collision while coming home from Las Vegas, and he is now in critical condition at Renown.

A "Show and Shine" fundraiser will be held to raise funds for JT and his family on Sunday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Seeley Loop of Mills Park, located at 1111 East Williams Street.

There will be raffles, food and music and awards for the top five. Registration is $20, and all proceeds will be given to the family.

CARSON CITY — Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital is hosting a family fun day on Sunday, July 21 to celebrate American Animal Hospital Association Accredited Hospital Day.

AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day is a day to celebrate champions for excellent care. The event takes place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital, 780 College Parkway in Carson City.

Adorable egg-snatching riot breaks out on Nevada Railroad Museum Lawn

The first of two egg hunts at the Nevada Railroad Museum was a hit with the Easter hunters. Eggs filled with prizes, toys and stuffed animals were up for grabs during the hunt which lasted about one entire minute before the lawn was picked clean.

The Easter Bunny was on site for pictures, and inside the museum there will be children’s activities such as face painting, coloring stations, and more.

Festivities will continue throughout Saturday and then Sunday. The schedule is as follows:

Carson City woman arrested for grand larceny, child endangerment after shoplifting spree

A 33-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for suspicion of felony grand larceny and child endangerment after shoplifting nearly $1,000 worth of merchandise from a local department store with her four-year-old child in tow.
