Two injured in early morning shooting in Carson City (updated with photos)
Submitted by admin on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 10:10amTwo persons suffered gunshot wounds after a fight broke out in front of a bar early this morning.
According to Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong, a bartender at Toads Bar, located near the intersection of Williams and Stewart streets, called in a fight in progress a little after four this morning.
When deputies arrived on the scene, there was a big group of people actively engaged in a fight in front of the bar near a taxi cab. A man later identified by witnesses as Emanuel Moreno, 21, of Carson City, then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot one person in the spine. The victim was later flown by Careflight to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
A deputy returned fire, hitting the shooter in the left hand. He reportedly dropped his gun and scattered with the rest of the fleeing crowd. Furlong said after daybreak they were able to track the suspect's blood trail to two different areas in the neighborhood behind the bar.
Moreno later turned up at Renown, saying he was involved in a fight in Reno. Furlong said Mario will be formally arrested for attempted murder after he gets out of surgery.
