The Brewery Arts Center continues an unforgettable summer of free outdoor music under the stars in Carson City this Saturday when soul and pop giant Remember Jones takes the downtown Minnesota Street stage.

Nevada Humanities is pleased to announce that 27 grants totaling over $104,500 were awarded to fund humanities programs across Nevada, including four in Carson City area.

The CHS Class of 2018 is going to step onto the football field as a group of students without a diploma and step off the football field as high school graduates with a diploma and a new wilderness in front of them.

This first weekend of June packs quite a punch: activities and events abound. Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. With the monthly Wine Walk, Pour for Paws in McFadden Plaza, and Crystal’s Crusade Street Party Fundraiser on W. Telegraph, downtown is the place to be. There are so many options this weekend, so take a gander and enjoy your weekend.

This is the 26th season of the Carson City Ghost Walk. The
evenings are a delightfully spooky and enjoyable way to
experience Carson City’s Victorian Era and diverse history.

Hear about lingering spirits of the long ago centuries, haunted
and paranormal stories and gossip from the past. This is a
spirit lead, guided walking tour of the downtown district’s west
side historic homes and businesses.

These scheduled tours leave rain or shine. Please arrive at
least 10 minutes before the walk begins. Dress for the weather
and for the walk. Bring a light source if we lose daylight.

Two Eagle Valley Middle School students and two Pioneer High School students and their families experienced a tragic fire May 16 in Carson City.

Antonio and Alexis Trujillo’s family, and Jordan and Theodore Leyva’s family are now displaced following this incident.

Proscenium Players, Inc. is bringing another hilarious show to the Carson City stage beginning Friday. "The Hit" by Mike Buckley is a story involving a cast of hilarious characters at an antique shop in San Francisco.

Carson High School Theatre Arts will feature its annual Shakespeare in the Park production of "Romea and Julian," a gender-swapped adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic play, this Thursday, May 24 at the Nevada State Capital Amphitheater in Carson City.

It’s going to be a chili weekend, and that has nothing to do with the weather. The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Families will have a hard time choosing between the Cops and Kids Open House and Safety Fair at the Sheriff’s Office and the ‘Kids to Parks’ Day activities at Silver Saddle Ranch. You’ll find live music, raffles, bike games, and too much fun. Western Nevada Musical Theater Company returns for another weekend of Singin’ in the Rain at the Bob Boldrick Theater. Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours are waiting to entertain you at the Brewery Arts Center. There may be some balcony seating still available, but tickets are very limited.

Teacher Appreciation week across the United States was May 7-11, and many teachers in the Carson City School District experienced appreciation unequaled in memory.

'Singin in the Rain' is probably one of my favorite movies, but I have no doubt that the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company has taken the classic to new heights. Get tickets now if you'd like to catch their production, they are known for sold-out shows. Funnel cakes, Ferris Wheels, and more are waiting for you at Mills Park. With live music, improv and comedy, theater, karaoke, and some pre-Cinco de Mayo celebrations throughout Carson City and beyond, you’ll have plenty of reasons to hit the town.

Muscle Powered, Citizens for a Walkable and Bikable Carson City, will be showcasing videos and presenting awards for the “No Zombie Texting” Video Competition on May 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Brewery Arts Center Black Box Theatre. The public is invited to attend and enjoy the creative endeavors of young video artists from the community.

Maddie’s Adoption Days is a state-wide event trying to find forever homes for dogs and cats; you’ll find several local shelters and rescues participating in the free adoption days.

The first day of the week marks the end of a season for Youth Theater Carson City. The year featured shows like Singing in the Rain, Jr. and Willy Wonka, Jr, and last summer’s Into the Dark, not to mention performances at Disneyland by their elite troupe: the Showstoppers. Karaoke night at the Fox Brewpub is an all-ages, family-friendly event, but all-day happy hour inside the Fox’ Den is meant just for the adults. Local theatre group, the Proscenium Players, have a few great productions coming these next few months; their monthly meeting is this evening at the Brewery Arts Center and anyone interested in theater or wanting to get involved is welcome to attend.
