"We're the sweethearts of the leagues around here," said CVR Events Coordinator Crystal Blackeye. "Sometimes they get into it with each other, but the other teams mended their ways because of us and became legit."

New community baseball league starts in Carson City
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Wed, 04/20/2016 - 7:33pmThe San Francisco Giants have come to Carson City. A new youth community baseball program with the backing of a Major League Baseball club opened for sign-ups earlier this month in the Nevada state capital.
The Junior Giants community league, run by the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, is sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, a charitable outreach of the professional sports franchise.

Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 08/22/2012 - 6:59pmI wanted to take some time to send out a special thank you to the awesome Businesses and people in our community who helped support our Junior and Senior Little League All Stars advancement to the Western Regional Tournaments in Vancouver WA and Ontario, CA this year! With out their support this would not have been possible for these fine athletes. Our Juniors (13-14 year olds) and Seniors (15-16 year olds) both Finished 1 and 3 in their tournaments and failed to advance to the Little League World Series but had an experience that most kids never have had.

Carson City Sheriff's Office picked to host state DARE conference

It is the second time Carson City has been selected to host the annual event, which brings DARE officers together from around the state to discuss programs, curriculum and prevention issues.
There will be around 35 officers who will attend the Carson City event.
