Bump, Set and Spike: First Volleyball Club launched at Carson City's Pioneer High School
CARSON CITY — At Pioneer High School this week, students Charish Creon and Cassidy Lingenfelter started the school's own volleyball club, making it the first team sports club in the school's 21-year history.
Club practices and games will be held after school in the new gym that will hopefully be finished by the end of the month.
Both Charish and Cassidy organized the club, found staff advisors to volunteer, and wrote a proposal to start the club. The impressive student proposal was immediately and enthusiastically accepted by Mr. Zona, Pioneer High School and Carson Online principal.
He stated he is proud of what Charish and Cassidy have accomplished and is encouraged to see Pioneer students taking more of an active role in adding student activities to their school, which opened in 1998.
Students and staff are very excited to watch the volleyball club grow as it represents another example of improvement and breaking new ground at PHS.
