South Lake Tahoe officials provide new details after woman found OK in car buried in snow

At a news conference Thursday, the City of South Lake Tahoe provided an update to the story about the woman who was saved from a buried car by a snow plow driver and SLTPD officers.

One might think that the end of summer means that the fun times are over: they would be wrong. This list of happenings in the Carson City area isn’t getting any shorter. The annual Genoa Candy Dance is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and this weekend welcomes the first ever Silver State Arts Festival at Fuji Park, as well. The first ever Community Garage Sale at the Community Center offers one-stop bargain hunting. Swing into the season at the monthly dance party hosted by the High Sierra Swing Dance Club.

Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show set for April 28-29

The sixth annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will be held April 28-29, 2017 in the South Tahoe Middle School multipurpose room.

Space is being increased to allow more vendors from the region to participate in the only event of its type on the South Shore. A free children's planting area is also being added to the two day show that runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m on Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on Saturday.

Street Vibes and the Candy Dance are always the endcap to September. Arts and crafts take over the small hamlet of Genoa this weekend; get a jump on your holiday gift list. All the other corners of Northern Nevada are a playground for the thousands of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts here to enjoy the bike rally. Battle Born Harley on Research Way offers a huge party without ever leaving the valley. Those two events are hardly all that Carson City and our neighboring counties have to offer, however. The fifth annual Fall Festival and Chili Cook Off will be on Saturday, September 17th, at the Recreation Complex in South Lake Tahoe.The event will open at 10:00 a.m. and run until 4:00 p.m. The Chili Tasting will be from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Admission to the event itself is free and will offer a free drawing prize ticket to attendees.
