Join the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget for a fun-filled weekend April 26-27 in Carson City. Comedian Kirk McHenry will headline the comedy club Friday night and Saturday nights beginning at 8 p.m.

Country dancing is coming to Virginia City on Thursday, April 25 with a free community event at Pipers Opera House. The Carson Lanes Country Kickers, a dance group that meets and dances weekly at Carson Lanes’ Eleventh Frame Lounge, will bring their skill, enthusiasm and fun to the first, in what hopefully will be the first of many country dance nights on the spring-loaded dance floor at Piper’s.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Rita Hosking along with Sean Feder will perform a one-night only concert next month in the capital region at the Historic Silver City Schoolhouse.

Headed into Thursday, April 11, 2019 we welcome Carson City to another day where weather forecasters say there's a chance of rain and maybe even a few snow showers mixed in. Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. This April, the Society of Women Engineers, Sierra Nevada Section, will host their seventh annual banquet to support Northern Nevada and Northern California area youth exploring science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

High school teachers from around the region are invited to nominate female students in their classes to receive this award of merit. Those students who are nominated are then invited to attend the banquet –along with their friends, families, supporters and teachers – to receive a certificate and accolades on stage and with fanfare.

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce its upcoming weekend springtime double feature, including "A Year With Frog and Toad, Kids," and Disney’s "The Jungle Book, Kids." Kenneth Robert Taylor passed away peacefully with family by his side in Las Vegas on Jan. 22, 2019 following a brief, unexpected illness which took him away too quickly and far too early.

Ken was born on April 7th, 1953 to John and Lois Taylor in San Francisco, CA and grew up in the California Bay area. Throughout his life, he always described himself as a "big kid", always full of adventure and making memories for his family.

Recently, SkillsUSA had its Regional Photography Competition, and all five participating CHS students are going to State. SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization serving more than 395,000 high school, college, and middle school students across the nation in trade training programs and technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.

Students from Wild Horse Children's Theater in Carson City won a Freddie G Award for Excellence in Ensemble Work and earned other recognition at the 2019 Junior Theater Festival West held recently in Sacramento.

"Winterflix," a play on the popular Netflix streaming service, was the theme this year at the 2019 Winterfest week at CHS with dress-up days and night-time activities all week long. Some of the events included the Netflix show, "Stranger Things," a Twins Day, "Riverdale," "The Office," and even the ever popular once-a-month Dress for Success competition.

Caitlin Jemma is a musician born and raised in Virginia City. She has been touring the globe for several years now, spreading her message of love and music.

Jemma recently completed a European tour, and now she's back in the Silver State. She was scheduled to perform at Piper's Opera House tonight for the West Coast Songwriter's Showcase in Virginia City, until Mother Nature stepped in.

UPDATE: Episodes of the new television sitcom "Casino Boss" will begin airing Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 on Charter Spectrum Cable Channel 190, the Carson Nugget said.
The program will then air daily at 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. until Jan. 31, 2019.

UPDATE: Carson Nugget officials said Monday that the time and date for airing the TV sitcom "Casino Boss" have changed. It was to originally begin airing on Wednesday. We will update this when we have the correct start date.

The pilot episode of “Casino Boss,” a TV sitcom filmed this summer in Carson City about the inner workings of a casino starring comedian, actor and Saturday Night Live alum Joe Piscopo will be shown on Charter cable sometime in the near future.

There are only two more Saturdays until Christmas, and Santa Claus is back in Carson City again this weekend ahead of the big holiday.
