Dog saved from drowning at Lake Tahoe by police and citizens dies later from injuries
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 02/25/2020 - 10:12amAn injured Siberian Husky that was saved from drowning by South Lake Tahoe Police officers and others after being found in the freezing cold lake water Saturday, sadly died later Sunday at a local veterinarian hospital. The police department and the dog's owners say they are grateful for all those who helped rescue the animal in the unfortunate incident.

The two showings, beginning at 5:30 and 7:00 p.m., will be free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their children.

Other activities include a morning and evening walk hosted by Muscle Powered, a dinner fundraiser for the Roman family at Pizza Factory, a community dinner and meeting invite to the Order of Eastern Star, a showing at the BAC of the 1941 film classic "The Lady Eve" and a concert featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn at Shepherd-Sierra Lutheran Church. Tours begin at Tamarack Lodge, at the top of the Heavenly Gondola every Friday at 1 p.m. The tours last approximately one-hour and continue through March 27, 2020, weather permitting.
Carson City Pizza Factory to host fundraiser for Roman family

He was born on Jan. 20, 1999 in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., the son of Blair and Susan Roman. He was a 2017 graduate of Carson High School and was currently a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Pizza Factory on Highway 50 in Carson City will hold a Feb. 4 fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with 20 percent of sales being donated to the Roman family to help with finances during this extreme loss.

Winning $14 million lottery ticket sold at Raley's in South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe ski patroller identified in fatal incident at Heavenly

Nicholson was a member of the Heavenly Ski Patrol and had been working that day. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Washoe County Coroner’s Office is working to identify a cause of death, according to a DCSO news release.

Forest Service firefighter from Lake Tahoe deployed to Australia; BLM sends Carson City fuels program manager

Two are already there, with four on the way including a Fuels Program Manager from Carson City who is serving as a plans chief. Other personnel are from the Battle Mountain District, an assistant Superintendent for the Silver State Hotshots, a helicopter supervisor from the Elko District and an Engine Captain from Southern Nevada.

Eldorado Resorts CEO Thomas Reeg said the Reno-based company will need to sell at least one of the three casinos it will own in Tahoe once a $17.3 billion merger/buyout of Caesars Entertainment is completed early next year.

Carson City man killed on tribal land tried and acquitted in 2019 on lewdness with a child charges (Updated)
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 12/17/2019 - 8:34pmUPDATE: A 23-year-old Carson City man who died Friday from multiple gunshot wounds was tried and acquitted at a Lake Tahoe court earlier this year on charges of indecent exposure and lewdness with a child under the age of 12, court records show. Kyle Sullivan Bryan was found not guilty by a jury on both counts on April 11, 2019 in El Dorado County Superior Court in South Lake Tahoe.

A Carson City man who died from multiple gunshots Friday in what is being investigated as a possible homicide on Washoe Tribe land was arrested in 2018 for warrants out of South Lake Tahoe for alleged lewdness with a child.
