Heading into the Veterans Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days. Events include live comedy, art and heater, multiple holiday craft fairs around Carson City and Carson Valley as well as several Veterans Day ceremonies and offers of gratitude to vets and active duty members of the U.S. military on Monday. Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary is presenting "Murder at the Sock Hop".

It will be presented Saturday, November 9th, 2019 at the Governor's Mansion, 606 Mountain St., Carson City.

The program includes buffet dinner, interactive show, no host bar, and raffles. Doors open at 4:30PM with the show starting at 5:00PM and buffet dinner at 6:00PM.

Ticket cost is $60.00 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the Carson Tahoe Medical Center Gift Shop located in the hospital lobby at 1600 Medical Parkway, Carson City or on line at http://ctha.eventbrite.com.

Events include the 30th annual Outhouse Races in Virginia City, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in Carson City, Fright Night at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Oktoberfest at the Casino Fandango, the 26th annual 'Making a Difference' Golf Tournament and much more!

Virginia City's Historic Fourth Ward School Museum’s 3rd Annual Steppin’ Back In Time fundraising event, highlighting The Fabulous 1950’s, will be Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Join us for an exciting evening of fun as we step back to the era of the Sock Hop. Come dressed in your favorite Poodle Skirt or Denim (optional), enjoy hors d'oeuvres and refreshments and celebrate life as it was on the Comstock.

Combining the best of the Carson City Jazz and Beyond Music Festival and bringing in the Hot August Nights theme that will include a sock hop and classic cars, Silver Oak Golf has rolled out the green carpet by becoming one of the venues for the annual Carson City jazz festival.

For the first time in its 16-year history, the annual Nevada Women's Expo opened in the Nevada state capital Friday night with a ribbon cutting by Carson City officials.

The Nevada Women's Expo is coming to Carson City this fall, NWE Producer and Coordinator Joye Kinkade said, bringing the traditional Reno venue to the Nevada state capital for the first time in the event's 16-year history.

Let’s just call this Nevad-oween weekend. So much crazy fun awaits: whether it’s the celebration of our ‘new’ downtown, Halloween parties for kids and adults alike, or our State Museum’s 75th Anniversary. Start your day at the Museum, hang around for the downtown ribbon cutting and festivities, then join in the costumed fun as Blinky Man hits the streets. Do the time warp at the Brewery Arts Center: the Rocky Horror Picture Show Party starts at 8:30 p.m. This is going to be one amazing weekend, so let’s get this party started.

It’s that time of year again. The ghosts and ghouls come out of hiding and paint the town orange. Halloween isn’t just one night around here. Combined with the festivities of Nevada Day, you can be sure to enjoy at least a week’s worth of celebrating.

Casino Fandango is airing the 1968 classic, Planet of the Apes, today at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Kick off a weekend full of classic cars with Cruise Night at the Carson Mall with food trucks, kids activities, and more. Westside Pour House is the new home of the weekly ‘Geeks Who Drink’ Pub Quiz, so gather your smartest friends for a fun night of trivia, libations, and good food.

As suddenly as it appeared, the snow has melted from the roads, leaving no excuses for not hitting the town. Friday has arrived and with it some great live music. Live it up at Living the Good Life with Monique and Friends. Stereo Galaxy will be getting the party started downtown at Westside Pour House. Or check out Chicken Fried at Mystique. If you’re a performer yourself, then A to Zen’s open mic might be your style. Dancers will want to strut their stuff at the monthly World Dance Open Floor at Comma Coffee. Release your inner rock star with karaoke at Carson Lanes or Whiskey Tavern.

I hope you’re in the mood for music, Carson City. The annual Jazz and Beyond Festival begins today with an art show and concert on the lawn of the Bliss Mansion. Over the next two weeks you’ll have a plethora of melody to choose from at venues throughout town. Enjoy an outdoor concert at Third and Carson with Drinking with Clowns. Sassafras is thrilled to grab Groove Session for a show; they’re usually off touring. Mo’z Motley Blues will give you a reason to dance at Living the Good Life. You’ll want to take a look at the whole list: I’ve only barely scratched the surface.

BSA Troop 33 is excited to announce it will be hosting its 2nd Annual “Send a Scout to Camp” Car and Truck Show Fundraiser on August 15, 2015 at Carson City’s Fuji Park.

The Show will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.; award ceremony starts at 3 p.m. Registration is $40 per entry. There is still time for pre-registration or you can register on the day of the event. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, one lunch meal ticket, and a dash plaque.

The last Friday of May and Carson City is hopping. Catch some comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Sierra Nevada Ballet’s one woman show ‘Fancifool’ at the Brewery Arts Center, or some live music. The Trippin King Snakes are at Sassafras, Mo’z Motley Blues are at Living the Good Life, and Stereo Galaxy is ripping it up at Westside Pour House. Just remind yourself that these April showers bring May flowers, and the balmy spring weather is returning in just a few days. This weekend has indoor and outdoor activities aplenty, so you can choose the degree of wind and rain you want to deal with.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club’s monthly dance party will be the Silver Dollar Car Classic Sock Hop, 6-10 pm July 26 at the Carson Nugget’s Grand Ballroom, 507 N. Carson St. Vintage 1950s-‘60s dance music will be played, and costumes of that era are encouraged. The fun includes dance, hula hoop, costume and limbo contests and door prizes. Cost is $5 for car show participants, $7 for members of HSSDC and Reno’s Biggest Little Swing Dance Club, $10 general for individuals and $15 for couples.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its monthly dance party June 28 at the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City. At 6:30 p.m., Clay and Cullen Mitchell will teach jitterbug, a 1940s-style swing dance and simplified version of Lindy hop. This is in preparation for the Silver Dollar Car Classic Sock Hop at the Carson Nugget on July 26. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members of swing clubs and $10 for nonmembers.

(PRESS RELEASE) Stateline, Nev. — Classic chrome polished cars, rock n' roll and Lake Tahoe will make for a Hot August Nights to remember, August 6-9 at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, the host site for one of the area’s most highly attended summer events.

The South Lake Tahoe leg of the famed Northern Nevada car show arrives at 6,225 feet elevation, with arguably the best hot rod backdrop in the world: the nation's most famous crystal cool, blue lake.

KARSON KRUZERS event is FREE, open to all cars, and attendees are encourage to “dress up” for the sock hop! The whole family will enjoy the cars, music, and dancing! DJ will be the ROCKIN’ REV. KEN HASKINS!

A support table will be set up for local 14 year old McKENNA MITCHELL, who has bone cancer. Donations will go to help with medical expenses and care. Come show McKenna that her community cares and is there to help!

Friday night shined in all shapes, sizes and hearts for McKenna Mitchell, a Carson City teen stricken with bone cancer. While McKenna wasn't able to attend because of chemotherapy treatments, Carson City put on a car show the 14-year-old girl would be proud of. The event was held at Kragen-O'Reilly's.

There were 66 entries in the Show and Shine, with all proceeds going to help McKenna's family with medical costs, according to organizers Holly and Kenson Seymour.

The Buddy Holly Sock Hop upcoming at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson Ceity will bring out the Big Bopper or Peggy Sue in you The fundraising event is set for Saturday evening, April 10, featuring the music of 1950s legend Buddy Holly and contemporaries of his rock ‘n roll era.

Bob Reid and the Rave-Ons will provide live music in the Buddy Holly tradition, including such mega-hits as Rave On, That’ll Be the Day and Peggy Sue. The 7-to-10 p.m. dance will offer not only live music and era recordings, but also has on tap food and beverages from malt shop favorites down to today.

A Buddy Holly Sock Hop will resurrect rock ‘n roll and reprise the fabulous ‘50s for the young and young-at-heart come April 10th at Carson City’s Brewery Arts Center.
