Study investigates link between clothes dryer lint, microplastic pollution in Lake Tahoe

This discovery revealed that microplastic pollution is not just present in oceans, but also in mountains and lakes, including highly protected areas like Lake Tahoe.

Report: Scientists say Lake Tahoe's famed water clarity shows alarming downturn
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 06/10/2020 - 2:18pmThe UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center released findings Wednesday from its annual Lake Tahoe Clarity Report, which showed In 2019 the lake's famed clarity decreased nearly 8 feet from the previous year’s dramatic 10-foot improvement. The average annual value in 2019 was 62.7 feet. The lowest value was recorded in 2017, when clarity was 60 feet.
Strong winds Saturday in Carson City topple olive tree off Goni Road

A solid Russian Olive Tree was no match for the winds. Wind meter had a gust of 37 mph just about the time the tree went over. That was our main shade for the back yard. Sad."

Fishing Report: Spring Fishing has begun, Lakes and Campgrounds beginning to open

But on May 22 the Mono County Board of Supervisors wrote a letter to the CDFW director Charles H Bonham, requesting the reopening of fishing season earlier then their previous request. As of May 23rd, Mono County is now open for the 2020 fishing season, right along Alpine County that opened on May 15th.
For those that will be getting out, Alpine County is open for fishing throughout the county.

The county decided to re-access its season opener from the original request of June 1. on Thursday, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife granted the request.

Early morning fliers take to Carson City skies this Mother's Day

The balloonists were able to get in a last good view over Carson City on Mother's Day and ahead of a change in the weather beginning Monday.

While that’s not feasible, it got me thinking. Hundreds of disposable cups, trays and lids line the countertops ready to be filled. The crew preps intuitively – they’ve done this many times before. The crew is the Carson City Senior Center.
