DeBug Computer is hosting its annual Community Shredding Day event on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon in Carson City and 1 to 3 p.m. in Minden. The event is free of charge and is designed to help protect against identity theft by shredding sensitive documents or obsolete computers and technology.

DeBug Computers of Carson City and Carson Valley is helping the community to stay cyber-safe at no charge. This is your opportunity to help minimize the chance of identity and personal information theft. DeBug offers this every year as a way of increasing identity theft awareness and providing a no-cost solution to our community.

Our Postal Annex location is providing Free Copying, Scanning, and Faxing of COV ID-19 related Financial Assistance Documents effective immediately. Some governmental agencies still want items faxed and others want them scanned and attachment on an email.

The Carson City Symphony’s Youth Strings Ensemble takes to the stage today for their spring concert, Music is for Life (Goes to the Movies), where you will hear them perform selected scores from our favorite cinema classics like James Bond and the Sound of Music. Teens can learn more about Geology during today’s STEM program at the Carson City Library, and those with a Sewing Certification can join in today’s workshop and walk away with a handy zippered bag.

Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. One hundred percent of the money collected will support local athletes.

Carson City residents got their shred on Saturday during a recycle event and barbecue to benefit Special Olympics of Nevada, raising $1,360 during the event.

Sunday was a day for law enforcement and Special Olympians as they teamed together at Silver Oak Golf Course to raise $2,200 for local athletic programs.

Nevada Department of Corrections Officer Tony Cloke notes the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser has been carried between Peace officers and Special Olympians in Nevada for more than 30 years.

The inspiration behind B4BC was a young woman named Monica Steward, co-founder of Bonfire, who at was diagnosed with breast cancer the age of 26 and passed away in 1996 at the age of 29.

The event will take place in the parking lot at the credit union’s Eagle Station branch, located at 451 Eagle Station Lane. Community residents are invited to drop off as much personal paper documentation they would like to safely destroy and recycle. Documents must be removed from binders, though attached staples and paper clips are acceptable.
