Carson City Soroptimist fill Seniors' Christmas lists

Members of Carson City Soroptimist helped Santa fulfill the Christmas lists of local homebound seniors. A big thank you to elves Cynthia Bunt and the FIG Insurance Agency for serving as Santa's workshop, and to Mary Luster for coordinating member efforts and getting the bags full of goodies to the Carson City Senior Center for delivery to homes in time for Christmas.

Safety measures in place as Reno-Tahoe International Airport prepares for increased holiday travel

RENO — Christmas week through New Year’s, Reno-Tahoe International Airport will see the highest passenger numbers since COVID significantly impacted air travel in March, and the airport will be working diligently to provide the safest, most sanitary travel experience possible.

2020 Reno 'TubaChristmas' virtual concert video released

The virtual Reno TubaChristmas 2020 video is available for viewing here via Youtube. The video features tuba, euphonium, and baritone horn players of all ages from Northern Nevada and from California, Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, Kansas, New York, and Sweden.

In-Person Learning to be Offered to Carson City 3rd to 6th Graders Beginning in January

During a special session last night, the Carson City School District School Board of Trustees voted unanimously to offer in-person, on-campus instruction for third to sixth graders, four days a week, Tuesdays through Fridays. The first official day of this more traditional education model will begin Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021. The district previously announced a return to 4-days-per-week, in-person learning for Pre-K to second grade students Oct. 20, 2020.

The Sertoma Coat Drive is in full operation for its fourth year of collecting and distributing clothing to the people in the community who are without warm outerwear. Northern Nevada professional Peter Williamson re-elected to NCET board

Peter Williamson has been re-elected to the board of directors of NCET, a member-supported non-profit that produces educational and networking events to help people explore businesses and technology.

He has served eight years on the NCET board and is the longest-serving volunteer director of the organization.

Williamson, re-elected as vice president of Tech Wednesdays, has worked for 15 years as an ActionCOACH business coach in Reno. He is also a Certified Exit Planner (CExP) with the Business Exit Institute, helping business owners plan their exit from their businesses.

Quad County COVID-19 Monday briefing: Carson City death, 35 new cases, 36 recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020. The individual was a Carson City resident. CCHHS is also reporting 35 new cases and 36 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,993, with 2,219 recoveries and 33 deaths; 741 cases remain active.
