Veteran's pancake breakfast happening Veteran's Day at Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177

This event will take place at the Carson City Elks Lodge on 515 N. Nevada Street, Carson City, from 9 to 11:00 a.m. All local senior veterans are invited to join RSVP for pancakes, sausages, and beverages. Celebrity chefs Charlie Abowd, Carson City Supervisor Stan Jones, and Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong will be serving pancakes.

But in the midst of a pandemic, a summer of protests, and an election year that shattered records, (pick a category, any catagory) it seems nevadans also found alot to disagree on. It was easy to see if one attended any of these protests.

Stimulus Program Information
The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. However, some local business owners were confused as to the procedure for the shut down, which businesses in fact are required to close and in what ways can they remain open.
Lyon County Board of Commissioners unanimously agree to emergency declaration

There was one person who poke against the resolution. Lyon County staff will now begin implementing procedures to address the declaration.

Dance at Carson City Senior Center this Friday with Live Music by 'The Grumpy Old Men'

Carson City sober-living facility closes, declares bankruptcy after client's death: Part II
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Thu, 09/05/2019 - 10:38amOn July 25, Joe Tummarello, a long-term client with Carson City-based sober-living facility Lyfe Recovery, passed away at Carson Tahoe Hospital. By all accounts, a month before his death he had been in fine health for a man of 76. He dealt with COPD and needed an oxygen tank to breathe in the high altitude of northern Nevada, but a check-up with his doctors during May of 2019 showed he was nowhere near the brink of death.
However, after being relocated to Carson City from Lyfe Recovery’s Reno facility, Joe’s medication was withheld and he was denied medical intervention after a rapid deterioration of his health, which ultimately, it is alleged, led to his death.

Executive director Linda Buchanan was recently diagnosed with Behcet’s Disease, a rare auto-immune disorder after two years of strange symptoms and increasingly poor health. Although Behcet’s disease is not considered life-threatening, it requires a significant reduction of work and stress to keep the disease contained.
Senator Square: Carson High School, Empire students share Carson River experience

Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.
Teenagers aren't joining the workforce, and Carson City pool programs are suffering

Suspects in residential burglary, credit card fraud now in Carson City Sheriff's Office custody

Details of the arrests are forthcoming. The CCSO Investigations Division wishes to thank the public for tips that helped identify the pair.

Friends To All Senior Santa Visits take to the streets of Carson City

The group, a nonprofit organization, has been providing visits to seniors in the community since 1999. More than 45 volunteers dressed as Santa and Helpers covered the City bringing their message "Touching Hearts with a Visit."
