Local first responders from around the Carson City region from Central Lyon County to Reno and Sparks areas, will be better equipped to keep community members safe thanks to grants from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce it will offer free COVID-19 testing for all school employees in two drive-thru events. Information about the dates, times and location have already been provided to employees from school administrators. After the drive-thru events, school employees who become symptomatic at work may be tested by one of the school nurses.

As part of the Carson Ranger District’s Hazardous Fuels Reduction Program, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest recently released sheep in the Jacks Valley Wildlife Management Fuels Reduction Project area just south of Jacks Valley Road in Carson City, Nev.

Chugg came to The Nevada Humane Society in Carson City on the 29th of September, 2020 when he was found as an injured stray.  

They have doctored this shy but sweet boy up and he is ready to find his forever home.

A virtual “Light After Dark” fitness event will be held on Saturday to support the Carson City-based Advocated to End Domestic Violence program. The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space department invites the community to the 4th annual Carson City BOOnanza. Due to COVID-19, this year’s BOOnanza will be a drive-through event.

Hello fellow anglers, Fall is definitely here. Renee and I took a trip through Alpine County last week to enjoy the fall colors. Many trees have turned, while others are just starting to get their true colors.

To get a good look at the viewing, venture up through Highway 88 from Woodfords to Caples Lake. Another good area of fall color viewing is from Woodfords on Highway 89 up to Kinney reservoir on Highway 4 .

Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Local business Wizard of Pawz grooming salon hosts a socially-distanced grand opening on Saturday afternoon, followed by a pool tournament at Bulldog Billiards at 6 p.m. Combined with live music and karaoke, the state capitol will be packed with excitement! Updates and changes to school zones have arrived in the Carson City area.

School zones for Bordewich Bray, Carson Middle, Carson High, Eagle Valley, Empire, Fremont, Fritsch, Mark Twain, Pioneer High and Seeliger have been extended from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The installation of new signs and updated times is expected to be completed by the second week of October, 2020.

To start the second quarter of school, the Carson City School District is pleased to offer full, in-person, on-campus instruction for students Pre-k to second grade, four days a week, Tuesdays through Fridays.
