Nevada Arts Council announces fiscal year 2020 grant recipients

He is featured in the Rococo Variations by Tchaikovsky, the lovely “Minstrel’s Song” by Alexander Glazunov, and Lukas Foss’s Capriccio. Also on the program are works by Mozart and Bizet.

The performance begins with the seldom performed yet stunningly beautiful Violin Concerto by the English composer Sir Edward Elgar. Performed by the Canadian violinist Catherine Manoukian the concerto is a marathon for both soloist and orchestra. The concert is rounded out by an early symphony of the Czech composer Antonin Dvorak considered heavily influenced by the German Richard Wagner. Bella Hristova then joins the RCO in a performance of the Violin Concerto written for her by her husband-to-be, David Ludwig, as a wedding gift. The program ends on a high note with the most humorous of all Beethoven symphonies, Number 8 in the key of F major. Maestro Theodore Kuchar also leads the Orchestra in a symphony by Mozart made famous in the film Amadeus, as well as the delightful “Classical” Symphony by Prokofiev.

5th Annual CHS Safe and Sober 5k Run/Walk a Success

The weather cleared up this morning and with just a bit of wind at race time, we couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather, maybe even a sunburn.

The Carson Middle School Parent Teachers Association will hold its annual Family Bingo and Chili Night fundraiser, set for Friday night, March 22, 6 p.m. at the middle school's Cafetorium on King Street. Want to know how popular this event is? Well, last year more than 500 attended.
