World Music Award Night at Center for Spiritual Living Dec. 16 in Reno
TACH (Traditional Association for Cultural Harmony), a non-profit organization founded by internationally-renowned musician Thakur Chakrapani Singh is going to present “World Music Award Night” on Dec. 16, 2018 at 4 p.m.
In this event, TACH is going to present its sixth annual award “Award of Excellence” to an artist who is having the extra ability in the field of music.
TACH is going to add a new award from this year, "SRIJAN Music Excellence Award” to an artist who devoted in music field as well as creating and innovating in
music.
The nominee of the "SRIJAN MUSIC EXCELLENCE AWARD" is Veena Chandra, an internationally-renowned sitarist, composer, teacher and choreographer. She is the founder and director of the Dance and Music School of India in Latham, NY, (celebrating 27 years) where she teaches Indian classical music.
She has been a faculty member at Skidmore College since 1990, teaching sitar in the Music Department. She continued learning sitar with Shri Satish Chandra, a disciple of Ravi Shankar. Being invited by Pt Ravi Shankar to his concerts she was inspired by his music.
Veena Chandra has a rare ability to communicate the beauty and complexity of North Indian Classical music to the western listener. She is noted for her skill and sensitivity in the meend (bending of wire) and her ability to produce vocal sounds on the sitar.
She characterizes the music of the sitar and tabla as relaxing and reflective of instincts and emotions. She explains that there is a triangular relationship between the artist, the art and the audience. She blends herself into the art and presents herself to the audience through the music.
The power in her music is vitalizing and healing to the body, clarifying to the mind, and food for the soul. Listening to her magnificent, heavenly music on the sitar will not leave you untouched.
The nominee of the "Award of Excellence" is Marina Roznitovsky Oster, who currently teaches harp at the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College, and operates a private harp studio in Reno.
She is currently the principal harpist with the Reno Chamber Orchestra, Susanville Symphony and the Nevada Opera. She is active in charity concerts and events and a number of her performances have been broadcast on National Israeli and United States television and radio.
Throughout her career, Ms. Roznitovsky performed with several professional orchestras in Israel and in the United States and recently was a featured soloist with the Susanville Symphony, the TOCCATA Orchestra in Tahoe and Oistrach Symphony Orchestra in Chicago.
She also performed under the baton of Mr. Daniel Barenboim during a worldwide tour with the West Eastern Divan Orchestra. Ms. Roznitovsky was a recipient of the American Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship award four consecutive times.
She also received multiple scholarship awards from the Dunie Weitzman Conservatory (of Haifa, Israel), Indiana University (Bloomington), Barenboim-Said Foundation (Spain) and the Bureau of Jewish Education (CA).
TACH (Traditional Association for Cultural Harmony) work for Global Artist Management, Yoga, Meditation, Pranayam, Cultural Exchange Program, Music Education, Fusion Music Collaboration and Development, Seminar, Organize Music Competitions and open to promote for all aspects of Music & it’s related Cultural Promotions.
It promotes all aspect of music of Indian and Western. It is working to establish a Music, Meditation, Pranayam and Yoga Center, where people can learn healing music, which is going to be very helpful in health wise as well as to get relief from tension and problems.
It’s going to give the community peace of mind through Music, Meditation, Pranayam and Yoga.
TACH is having a 501(c)3 and expecting donor to fulfill its dream by establishing a music and meditation center on the basis of traditional cult, “Guru-Shisya” parampara (Teacher and Disciple tradition).
