GARDNERVILLE — RE/MAX Realty Affiliates of Gardnerville, Realtor Ginger Easley is working once again to raise funds for the Carson Valley Food Closet.

Easley has raised thousands of dollars for the food closet, along with hundreds of pounds of food through annual client gatherings and online fundraisers since 2016.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Transportation is reminding community members that political signage is not allowed on state highway property.

The Brewery Arts Center normally provides the Levitt-Amp concert series throughout the summer, but due to COVID-19 the festivities were cancelled this year. The BAC, however, along with several Carson City community partners, stepped up to bring safe family fun to the capital city, including the Flatbed Concert Series and drive-in movie nights.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak signed Emergency Directive 025 on Thursday, which will gradually lift the moratorium on evictions. He also strongly urged landlords and tenants to work together and collaborate on repayment plans.

COVID 19 and Real Estate – What You Need To Know- One Realtors Advice.

Nevada’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has restricted the activities of many local businesses that aren’t considered “essential.” Realtors are among the list included in essential businesses, so are lenders, title companies, and banks.
With that said and with direction from Nevada Realtors Association at the state level there are some things to be aware of.

The temperatures may be dropping outside—but for house hunters, things are just about to start heating up.
First, let’s look at the numbers for Carson City in 2019:
How did the housing market do in 2019?

The US Census defines cost-burdened households as a household that spends at least 35 percent of their monthly income on household costs (including their mortgage, utility bills, property taxes, and other costs associated with homeownership). In other words, cost-burdened households are households that may feel a significant financial strain (or burden) as a result of owning their home.

CARSON CITY — Sierra Nevada Realtors recently announced their 2020 President and Board of Directors. The President for next year is Claudia Saavedra, who is a Realtor with Charles Kitchen Realty in Carson City, Nev.

The National Grassroots Broadcasting Network (NGBN) and it’s flagship affiliate NGBN Carson City TV are proud to announce the launch of Carson City's first ever five day-a-week morning TV show.

The show titled, Good Day Carson, is the next project for the NGBN Carson City TV Platform, which aims to produce quality, community-focused content to areas often overshadowed by larger markets. This is the case with nearby Reno; yet, many consider Carson City too small to stand on its own. But the producers of Good Day Carson think differently.

Going into Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, we're looking at a slight chance of showers with highs in the upper 60s around the Carson City region. Looking ahead there's art workshops and showings, as well as the Scallywaggers Pirate Pup Parade, Wheeled Food Wednesday and outdoor showing of the film classic "Hook" at the Brewery Arts Center, acrylic pour jewelry making at Rustically Divine, Salsa dancing and more.

The next Carson City outdoor summer movie night is Sept. 18 including food trucks, a pet costume contest and the classic childhood pirate movie, “Hook.”

Head to the Brewery Art Center’s Minnesota Street Stage, where Wheeled Food Wednesday food trucks will be serving 5-8 p.m. and the pirate-themed pet costume contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. — followed by the free film showing at sunset.

CARSON CITY — The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is thrilled to announce that their annual benefit concert, HopeFest9, raised over $225,000 in net proceeds. The event, which was held at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center on Friday, August 23, raised nearly $100,000 over 2018 event totals.

We're heading into the midweek, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 with sunny skies and activities throughout the day including day 2 of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center, Jazz and Beyond festival performances to complement Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC followed by a classic outdoor movie to boot, "West Side Story." There's also a free creative event: "Community Art Card, Creating Social Circle" at Comma Coffee, Salsa dancing and more. Enjoy the day.

Carson City Classic Cinema Club's Outdoor Summer Series continues this Wednesday with this essential musical classic starring Natalie Wood and Rita Moreno "West Side Story." This classic features The Jets, the Sharks, the score, the choreography, the love story.

The Sierra Nevada Realtors will host the Alyce McCracken Scramble for Scholarships on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Toiyabe Golf Course in Washoe Valley.

This annual golf tournament is played in honor of Realtor Alyce McCracken, a resident of Northern Nevada who had a passion for continuing education and training. Proceeds from the tournament benefit local high schools in the communities served by the Sierra Nevada Realtors including the counties of Carson City, Douglas, Churchill, and parts of Lyon.

Summer is an awesome time of year for many reasons, but one of the best ways to enjoy the seasons is by taking a summer vacation.

Summer is one of the most popular times of the year for vacations (thanks to the kids extended time off from school). But unfortunately, that also means it’s a prime time of year for home invasions and burglaries.

The housing inventory crisis—which, according to Realtor.com’s recent Housing Shortage Report, is the worst inventory shortage in the United States in over two decades—hasn’t been an easy time for people on the market for a new home. The low inventory and the intense competition for available homes has driven up prices in markets across the country, making it difficult for potential buyers to find and buy property.

Following the financial crisis of 2008, the Obama administration passed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street and Consumer Protection Act which, in an effort to clean up the mortgage industry, imposed stricter regulations around lending. The legislation completely changed the mortgage industry and made it much more challenging to secure a loan.

When Rhonda Abend heard there was interest in organizing an outdoor movie series in Carson City over the summer, her reply was automatic: “As you wish.”

Carson City Art Gallery and Pottery will host an Artist Faire this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 110 South Curry Street in the parking lot and on the porch. A selection of the gallery’s artists will be displaying their work, and some will be doing live demonstrations.
