Coldwell Banker Select real estate agents serving Northern Nevada delivered 435.8 pounds of pet food to Friends in Service Helping, or FISH, a Carson City-based social services organization and pet food provider site for Feeding Pets of the Homeless.

Sierra Nevada Realtors is proud to announce its donation of $3,000 to Carson Tahoe Health Foundation’s annual Hopefest event. Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

When you first start looking at houses to buy, you’re probably looking to find the best house possible…not looking for the best real estate agent possible.

It usually begins innocently enough…
Maybe you see a house online. So, you reach out to the agent with the click of the button. Or send a quick e-mail. Perhaps even pick up the phone to ask a few questions, or schedule a showing. Next thing you know, you’re being sent listings by e-mail, and going out to see houses with that agent.

For those who are interested in buying a home or relocating to Northern Nevada, Chase International’s inaugural “Open House Showcase” on Saturday, June 22 may be the perfect occasion to see some of the region’s best options on the market today, all in one day.

True or false…When you’re selling a house, you should bake cookies before a showing or an open house.

I guess you could say the answer is a hard and fast “true” because, after all, it can’t hurt. Who doesn’t like the smell of freshly baked cookies?

But it’s also kind of false…

It isn’t like you can Betty Crocker your way to a sale, let alone at the highest price possible. Your entire house still needs to be appealing. A batch of cookies isn’t going to hide bad odors enough or divert people’s attention from a messy house that needs repairs.

If only it were that simple…

Why would someone write an article on buying versus renting a home? What’s in it for the author of the article?
Why would you read one?

What is it you want to hear? Do you just want confirmation and justification for what you already believe and want to do? Or, are you looking to be convinced otherwise?

These are all good questions to ask yourself if you find yourself reading an article on whether it makes more sense to buy a home, or rent a house.

There are “reasons” to buy, and “reasons” to rent.

CARSON CITY – During its 2018 Annual Conference, the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies presented the Nevada Rural Housing Authority with the Single-Family Excellence award in recognition of the Home At Last program.
