CARSON CITY — Following an earthquake which hit the Carson City area on Friday, March 20, the Nevada Department of Transportation inspected bridges for potential damage. No bridges were found to have visible damage relating to the earthquake.

Posada Event at Mark Twain Elementary to Increase Family Involvement

Carson City, Nev. (Dec. 13, 2019) — Administrators and educators at Carson City’s Mark Twain Elementary School will host Posada 2019, Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The event, open to all students and families, is part of the English Second Language (ESL) Department’s iCan Initiative designed to increase parent and family involvement for students and to help reinforce and extend learning taught during regular classroom instruction. It will include piñatas, face painting, traditional Hispanic holiday food and music, family activities, photos and more.

Carson City's Empire Elementary awarded $5K Rotary grant for STEM Parent Nights

The Carson City School District, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Carson City, is pleased to announce Empire Elementary School as the winner of a $5,000 grant to hold four Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Parent Nights at their school. CARSON CITY — Seventy percent of the schools in Carson City showed improvements in the latest Star Ratings report, according to the Nevada Department of Education State. Senator Square: The weather, clothing and colors are changing at Carson High School

The weather is changing at Carson High School and so are the types of clothing some students are wearing. CHS Dean Sharon Hallinan sent an email out to all CHS teachers about this weather changing challenge. Hallinan told teachers to “please remind students of the Dress Code; highlight the fact that bare midriffs and holey jeans, which violate the ‘Fingertip Rule’, are not allowed.”

This is the fourth in a series of columns summarizing my Controller’s Annual Report for fiscal year 2018 (FY18).
