Marshall, previously announced as the speaker, found herself unable to attend due to a last minute schedule change, so Ms. Lopez, a close associate and former staffer, was asked speak on her behalf.

The Carson City Relay for Life brought the community together to raise money, awareness and to educate each other on the battle against cancer.

More than 50 northern Nevada artists will take part in this one-of-a-kind chair show, entitled "Sit On This."
A portion of all chair sales will go directly to The American Cancer Society. A raffle table will be available with all proceeds to benefit prostate cancer research. Carson City Confections will be on hand with their amazing cupcakes. Many surprises throughout the day.

Sierra Nevada Cancer Center is a state-of-the-art oncology and hematology facility now offering treatment in five locations including Carson City, Fallon, Gardnerville and Sparks. The South Lake Tahoe facility will expand the reach of Sierra Nevada Cancer Center making cancer treatment more convenient and closer to home for those living at the Lake.

NHP works to improve men's health with mustache campaign

By participating in a charity called Movember (Moustache + November), troopers will be sporting mustaches for the month of November to help raise awareness for men's health issues. The mustaches will act as a "ribbon" to help generate conversation, and ultimately, encourage people to donate to the cause.
