Western Nevada College Softball secured a fourth-place seat in the NJCAA Region XVIII Tournament, which continues through Saturday, May 9 at Salt Lake Community College. Carson edges out Douglas 4-3 on senior night

The Carson High School Baseball team had hosted a senior night of their own earlier tonight. The festivities took place before the game, which highlighted all of the seniors. This year’s class of 2014 ball players include: Dustin Dutcher, Dominic Norton, Chase Blueberg, Todd Thomsen, Jace Zampirro, Gehrig Tucker, and Charles Nystrom.

The rivalry was real in this one, with the umpire talking to both benches multiple times and even an ejection of one of the coaches.

Carson loses 7-2 on senior night

The rivalry was intense today on the softball diamond today as Carson squared off against Douglas earlier in the afternoon at Carson. The importance of the home game for the Senators was that it was their Senior Night.

Manogue's defense proves too much for Carson on the baseball diamond

Manouge went straight to work with a single into left field, right after an error by Brandon Allen who fumbled the ball after a bunt. Then after a fielder's choice to get out number two, it looked like trouble early for the Senators, but a pop out to short stop made it a harmless inning with 1 hit, 1 error, no run top of the first.

Manogue overpowers Carson on the softball field

It was another Tuesday afternoon showdown on the softball diamond where the Manogue Miners took on the Carson Senators.

Manogue spent no time getting to business with a first at bat double by Tallman, followed immediately by another double by Lawson to score Tallman. With a single by Tavner, and a wild pitch shortly after, Tallman also made her way to the plate. Then, after another wild pitch and series of defensive mishaps, Tallman also made her way to the plate. The bleeding finally stopped there with the top of the first inning over, Manogue 3-0.

WNC Baseball: Wildcat pitchers stand tall in the wind, sweep Southern Idaho Golden Eagles

Jams don’t get much more stressful than the one relief pitcher Spencer Greer dealt with on Saturday afternoon at John L. Harvey Field in Carson City.

The Western Nevada College sophomore was protecting a one-run lead against College of Southern Idaho with the potential tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with two outs in the top of the seventh inning.

With a base open, Greer instead focused on cleanup hitter R.J. Bush, retiring him looking at a third-strike curveball.
