Outdoor Concert

Lineup for Brewery Arts Center's free summer concert series

The Brewery Arts Center (BAC) in downtown Carson City will be hosting a free summer concert series this year, sponsored by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation.

Through the efforts of the BAC, Carson City was one of 15 cities nationwide awarded the concert series for 2016.

The Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series kicks off June 4 and will run every Saturday evening through August 6 with live music starting at 7 p.m. along Minnesota Street next to the BAC. The 10-week music series will include one Friday night show on June 17.

The concert series is free and open to the public.

Many of us will never forget where we were when we first heard about the hijacking and subsequent attacks on the World Trade Center. September 11, 2001 is burned into our collective memory. At 8:30 a.m. this morning there will be a memorial service at the 9/11 Memorial in Mills Park where an I-beam from the fallen towers now serves as a reminder. Even if you cannot make it to the ceremony, please take a moment of silence to remember.

I hope you’re in the mood for music, Carson City. The annual Jazz and Beyond Festival begins today with an art show and concert on the lawn of the Bliss Mansion. Over the next two weeks you’ll have a plethora of melody to choose from at venues throughout town. Enjoy an outdoor concert at Third and Carson with Drinking with Clowns. Sassafras is thrilled to grab Groove Session for a show; they’re usually off touring. Mo’z Motley Blues will give you a reason to dance at Living the Good Life. What a crazy week in the Sierras! Afternoon thunderstorms for the last several days, flooding, hail, and even snow in Yosemite are definitely unusual for this time of year. The storms are expected to subside this weekend, so keep your fingers crossed for some sunshine. Break a leg to the Proscenium Players as they open Murder in an English Manor at the Brewery Arts Center. Senior Follies debuts this year’s performance, Flashback, at the Community Center.

Hard Rock Lake Tahoe to add outdoor concerts this summer

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Lake Tahoe announced this week they will be hosting six to eight outdoor concerts this summer. The rear parking lot at the Stateline property will be converted into an outdoor amphitheater that will seat up to 7,500 people.

In a venture with PR Entertainment, Inc., owned by former Caesars Entertainment Director Paul Reder, Hard Rock is looking to attract top-name national artists to the Lake Tahoe area. They plan on starting the concerts in June and concluding on Labor Day weekend.

Country legend Merle Haggard to launch outdoor music series at Carson Valley Inn

Country music legend Merle Haggard will launch the TJ's Corral Outdoor concert series May 1 at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, according to an announcement Wednesday on its website.

Five shows announced, more on the way for Harveys Outdoor Concert Series at Lake Tahoe

Five big nights of music have already been announced for the Harveys Outdoor Concert series at Lake Tahoe this summer and tickets are already selling. More concerts will be announced in the coming weeks.

The popular South Lake Tahoe spot will host Train as they tour the US on their Picasso at the Wheel Summer Tour. Train will be joined by The Fray and Matt Nathanson on Tuesday, July 21.

HopeFest free outdoor concert tonight to benefit local cancer patients

UPDATE: The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to host HopeFest 2014, an outdoor concert tonight, Friday, offering free admission with all sales on food, drinks and raffle tickets directly benefitting local cancer patients.

Nationally famed folk-rock band, Antsy McClain and The Trailer Park Troubadours known for their cowboy jazz, Tex-Mex groove and soulful R&B dance tunes will be the headlining performers. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center located at 1535 Medical Parkway, Carson City.

Firkin Friday's summer outdoor concert series kicks off with Baker Street

The Firkin & Fox Carson City kicks off its summer concert series this Friday, June 6, with local rock n' roll favorite Baker Street beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Known for churning out the classics from the 1970s and 80's, Baker Street has developed a loyal Northern Nevada fan base, with its guitar-driven licks and crisp vocal stylings. There's no better way to celebrate summer than with music that rocks to it.

The Firkin Friday's outdoor concert is at 310 South Carson Street. There will be plenty of food, barbecue and drink specials going on inside.

Aerosmith with Slash added to Tahoe Summer Outdoor Concert Series

How’s this for a Summer Concert Series topper: Aerosmith with Slash have been added to the most ambitious lineup at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys.

The latest show announced joins the Eagles and Lady Gaga where the highest-priced tickets are sold for more than $200. Bruno Mars went for $199.50.

HopeFest outdoor concert Friday in Downtown Carson City to benefit local cancer patients

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation announces HopeFest 2013, an outdoor concert offering free admission with all sales on food, drinks and raffle tickets directly benefitting local cancer patients.

The outdoor event featuring the band Notch 8 takes place on Friday, October 4 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. outside of the Firkin & Fox restaurant on Third Street in Carson City. The event was rescheduled due to hazardous air conditions caused by the California Rim Fire.

Nevada Bills That Never Saw the Light of Day

CARSON CITY — Several bills that were introduced in the just-ended session of the Nevada Legislature didn’t get a chance to see the light of day in 2013. Here’s a look back on a few pieces of legislation that died this year:

Ward-only voting Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval vetoed legislation Tuesday that would have changed Reno’s and Sparks’ current voting system from citywide voting to ward-only voting, which would require voters to select the city council candidate who would represent the ward they live in.

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to announce net proceeds of over $50,000 for their 2nd Annual Carson City HopeFest fundraiser. This is an increase over last year’s net earnings of $37,000 and like last year, one hundred percent of these proceeds go towards local cancer patients seeking treatment in Carson City. Currently, the CTH Foundation is the only non-profit organization focused on supporting Carson area cancer patients with living expenses.

Big weekend in Carson City for jazz fans

Jazz Carson City 2010 will wind up this weekend with a Friday night appetizer followed by a Saturday and Sunday blowout.

Carson City man faces weapons charges after bringing knife to concert

A Carson City motorcycle gang member faces gross misdemeanor weapons charges after bringing a concealed knife into a concert attended by more than 200 people.
Dave Ernest Herrick, 46, faces charges of possession of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. Bail was set at $5,000.
According to the arrest report, Gold Dust West security officers alerted Carson City deputies that there was a man with a concealed weapon attending a Saturday night concert.
