Raynna Jackson began helping with Toys for Tots at the Ron Wood center before Thanksgiving in order to fulfill her CHS Senior Project graduation requirement; she decided to help give underprivileged children a Merry Christmas.

She started by putting boxes at CHS and her mother’s place of employment, Natel Company. Toys for Tots serves more than 2,000 Carson City area kids every Christmas, and Raynna took this personally; she wanted to help bring in even more gifts. Raynna ultimately facilitated the gathering of 2 large boxes of toys.

Let your inner floral designer out and do some holiday bouquets. First, choose a container. Then decide what will hold the flowers in place. When I use a vase, I just put the flowers and greens in loosely. You can place clear marbles or pebbles in the bottom to hold the flowers.

Graduation rate sees leaps in Carson City, Lyon County and statewide in 2016

The Nevada Department of Education on Thursday released the statewide cohort graduation rate for the class of 2016 with graduation among Carson City high school seniors seeing a 6 percent increase over 2015 figures. Lyon County saw a 6.6 percent increase, while Douglas County saw a slight decrease.
