Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. Successful Nevada gardeners know that Nevada soils are worth the toil to ensure a great garden. Our native soils are low in organic matter due to low rainfall amounts. The Carson City Department of Arts & Culture in partnership with the Culture and Tourism Authority warmly welcome national arts data and policy specialist Randy Cohen to Carson City on March 17-18 for a series of presentations highlighting the positive impact of the arts to our local economies.

The first patient in Nevada has tested presumptively positive for the novel coronavirus, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

A test performed by the Southern Nevada Health District confirmed the patient is presumptively positive for the virus, and a sample is being sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for official confirmation. The individual was identified through the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System.

An injured Siberian Husky that was saved from drowning by South Lake Tahoe Police officers and others after being found in the freezing cold lake water Saturday, sadly died later Sunday at a local veterinarian hospital. The police department and the dog's owners say they are grateful for all those who helped rescue the animal in the unfortunate incident.
