Horses gather at the refurbished watering fountain during Nevada Day Parade

This was a wonderful flashback to the original purpose of the fountains and the rebuild this year.

Karen was born Oct. 23, 1948 in Huntington Beach, California to Roger Kerley and Lindalee (Plumleigh) Kerley. She graduated at Marine High School Class of 1966 and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy at UCLA College.

Memorial at Cactus Jack's Tuesday for pedestrian killed in crosswalk
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 11/24/2014 - 1:15amEmployees at Cactus Jack's Casino will hold a memorial for Mike Shields this Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. inside the Poker Room at Cactus Jack's at 420 North Carson St., Carson City.
Shields died Nov. 11 after being struck in a crosswalk by a motorcycle as he was returning from Cactus Jack's, where he was an employee. The accident remains under investigation. The Nevada Highway Patrol has had difficulty in locating the family of Mr. Shields. Friends say Shields would have celebrated a birthday Tuesday.

Douglas County requests State of Emergency for cumulative flash flooding

The cumulative series of floods has now exceeded the county’s resources, and the declaration will allow for help with repairing public infrastructure such as County Maintained roads, culverts, and drainage.

Sunday afternoon, July 20, 2014, the rains came in force for about 20 minutes. "It started raining and hailing, we were getting it on video, and then heard a loud noise and the whole mountain started coming down in our backyard," recalls Daylin Olson, a resident of Mac Drive.
