Dr. Heather M. Parsons, DMD, acquires Valley Pediatric Dentistry in Minden
Native Nevadan and local talent, Heather M. Parsons, DMD acquires Valley Pediatric Dentistry in Minden, Nevada. On August 16, 2016, Dr. Parsons took ownership of Valley Pediatric Dentistry and, along with her team, will be providing Northern Nevada youth with exceptional pediatric dental care.
After graduating from Virginia City High School, Virginia City, Nevada, Heather attended and received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with Distinction from the University of Nevada, Reno. In efforts to fulfill her desire to practice dentistry, she studied at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine where she obtained her Doctorate, Magna Cum Laude in 2011. In 2013, Dr. Parsons received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Stony Brook University Hospital (SUNY) in New York. In 2015, she joined Valley Pediatric Dentistry as an associate where she found the opportunity to practice pediatric dental care in her native home state.
“Valley Pediatric Dentistry has been the hallmark of exceptional pediatric dental care in the Northern Nevada area for over a decade. I am pleased to continue this tradition of providing area youth with high quality pediatric dental care in a friendly and fun environment. I look forward to forging life-long relationships with our patients, and their families, as well as educating them on the value of good oral hygiene, and its impact on overall health,” said Dr. Parsons.
A proponent of good dental health, Dr. Parsons believes that the biggest obstacles for patients are appropriate treatment options and education on the importance of oral hygiene and its long-term effect on health. Growing up in Virginia City, Dr. Parsons understands the challenges associated with rural living and accessing dental care due to time constraints and distance to service providers. She feels that by properly engaging the entire family with fun, effective care and prevention strategies, parents and their children will be equipped to combat the daily distractions and challenges of dental care.
Understanding the importance of giving back to her community, Parsons has been active supporting the efforts of various health care organizations. Dr. Parsons’ volunteerism includes Give Kids a Smile (hosted by Nevada Dental Society New Dentist Committee), which provides preventative and restorative dental services to patients at no cost, and Remote Area Medical (RAM). RAM is a free medical, dental and vision program which offers services to rural residents.
Dr. Heather M. Parsons, DMD and the Valley Pediatric Dentistry team is pleased to make this announcement and are excited to continue the tradition of providing exceptional dental care to patients and their families. For more information, contact ValleyPediatricDentist.com or 775.782.8077.
