Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 04/21/2020 - 10:30amCARSON CITY — Employment stats in early March, before the COVID-19 shutdown, shows Carson City having gained 400 jobs over March 2019 figures but had decreased significantly since February of this year, according to data released Tuesday by Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. Carson City's unemployment also swelled to 6.7 percent, up from 4.1 percent in February, and up from 4.5 percent a year ago.

NDOT to distribute nearly $22 million in CARES Act money to support rural transit services

The Federal Transit Administration recently announced appropriations of $25 billion in national transit relief funding.

Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 04/10/2020 - 2:30pmFinalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance totaled 79,285 regular initial claims for the week ending March 4, up 7,343 claims, or 10.2 percent compared to last week’s total of 71,942.
This is the second highest weekly total in state history. Through week ending April 4, there have been 271,533 initial claims filed in 2020, this is 28,417 more than the state saw in the last two years combined.
