Not only is Friday the first day of March in this 2019 calendar year but it is also the end of the work week. And for this we say welcome to a month that brings us the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, which is this Saturday, NCAA basketball playoffs, St. Patrick's Day celebrations and the first day of spring. Gabriel Rutledge will be headlining the Carson Comedy Club this weekend, Jan. 11-12 inside the Carson Nugget located at 507 N Carson St. in Carson City.

For one night only, Jill Maragos will be headlining the Carson Comedy Club inside the Carson Nugget in Carson City
on Friday, Sept. 14.

Jill Maragos developed her sense of humor and knack for story-telling as a survival tactic for growing up with a crazy family in Buffalo, NY. With degrees in Broadcast Journalism & Mechanical Engineering, she made the natural progression into Stand-Up Comedy.

The High Altitude Players present “Whose History is it Anyway?” an evening of comedy improvisation at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Thursday, August 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Comedian Anderi Bailey will be headlining the Carson Comedy Club July 20-21 inside the Carson Nugget, located at 507 North Carson Street in Carson City.

Anderi has been mastering his craft since 2006, with his talent and hard work leading the way to opening for the likes of D.L. Hughley, Earth Quake and Charlie Murphy.

Also bringing him front-and-center on the historical and legendary stage of the Apollo Theater, along with Laughs Unlimited and Tommy T's comedy clubs, and ultimately to his television debut on Magic Johnson's aspire network's "Who Got Next" comedy special.

It’s going to be a chili weekend, and that has nothing to do with the weather. The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Families will have a hard time choosing between the Cops and Kids Open House and Safety Fair at the Sheriff’s Office and the ‘Kids to Parks’ Day activities at Silver Saddle Ranch. We’re in for another gray day, but that won’t affect the fun to be had. Bike to Work Week always ends in a big bash. Head down to McFadden Plaza, even if you didn’t take the challenge personally. You’ll find live music, raffles, bike games, and too much fun. Western Nevada Musical Theater Company returns for another weekend of Singin’ in the Rain at the Bob Boldrick Theater. Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours are waiting to entertain you at the Brewery Arts Center. There may be some balcony seating still available, but tickets are very limited.

I may be dating myself, but I’ve got John Denver’s voice stuck in my head singing ‘Plant a tree for your tomorrow.’ It’s Arbor Day, so Mayor Bob Crowell will be doing just that, planting a tree in Mills Park. The kids of Wild Horse Children’s Theater continue their successful run of Junie B. Jones at the Brewery Arts Center - it’s their final weekend, so don’t miss out. Maddie’s Adoption Days is a state-wide event trying to find forever homes for dogs and cats; you’ll find several local shelters and rescues participating in the free adoption days.

Living the Good Life Nightclub Bistro and Lounge at 1480 North Carson Street is the house that Gina Rohrer built, and it is not for sale.

You’re going to have some choices to make today. Just how much fun are you looking for, and what kind? Live music takes over at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, Bella Vita Bistro, Living the Good Life, and the Brewery Arts Center. Belly laughs can be found at Carson Comedy inside the Carson Nugget on Fridays and Saturdays. A Father-daughter dance at the High School in Dayton is sure to thrill some little princesses.

The Reno Aces’ newest player, Cody Decker, has played 933 minor league games with 13 teams in 10 seasons and he is quite familiar with Greater Nevada Field.

Born in Texas and raised in Augusta, Georgia, Billy Anderson is stand-up comedian currently living in Los Angeles. Billy has written for Cracked.Com, performed in SF Sketchfest, was a finalist in the 2016 Seattle International Comedy Competition and as of 2013 he has performed stand-up comedy in every US state. Billy can be heard on Audibles Sounds Like America hosted by Jackie Kashian and seen on season 3 of the syndicated program Laughs on Fox television. In 2017 he released his first live comedy special titled Americas Sweetheart through The Harmon Brothers VidAngel Dry Bar Comedy series.

Five brave souls took to the stage at the COD Casino in Minden on Monday, March 12. These students wrote and then performed their stand up comedy routine for a standing room only crowd.

Carson City, Nevada residents Gene and Ruth Ratner have faced a lot of adversity in their lives, probably the same as most other nonagenarians, war, divorce, death of loved ones, disease, more than some and not as many as others.

While your morning commute will seem darker than usual, this evening will hold onto the sunshine longer. Local funny-lady, Kat Simmons, is hosting a showcase featuring the students of her most recent Stand Up Comedy workshop. Some of the humor may not be suitable for youngsters, so use your discretion. If you know where to look, every day is National something-or-other day. Today gets pancakes, and the International House of Pancakes is celebrating accordingly with a free short stack. It is a fundraiser for the Children’s Medical Network, so leave something for the organization in addition to the tip. CASA, Court-appointed Special Advocates, is always looking for more volunteers to stand up for children. Join them for coffee and find out more about this great organization.

Join us every Tuesday at 6:30 for two rounds of Bingo/Blackout and Taco Tuesday. $5 per board per game. Family friendly in a fun atmosphere. Have dinner, a beverage, bingo, and lots of laughs. Prize for bingo and blackout splits the money collected for that round.

This Friday, Feb. 16, the Carson Comedy Club Presents Comedian Ellis Rodriguez. Born in Boston, Ellis Rodriguez is by far the funniest of nine children raised by loving immigrant parents from Panama.

Marc is an award-winning comedian featured on the Showtime special, Goin Native: The American Indian Comedy Slam. Marc has also been seen on the PBS special, Crossing The Line, SiTVs, The Latino Laugh Festival and Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen.

We promise ourselves each year that this is THE year we are going to get in shape, redo our overall look, read the classics, find a new job, travel the world, run for political office, or do something different to keep ourselves current and relevant.

A long weekend is just beginning. Tonight, funnyman Steven Briggs kicks off three nights of comedians at Carson Comedy inside of the Nugget Casino. Whiskey Tavern on Highway 50 East hosts a Friday night karaoke party. Enjoy the music stylings of Tom Miller during dinner at Living the Good Life, then stick around for some dancing.

Myles has a comedic magnetism that's right up there with Robin Williams. Myles has appeared on MTV's "Greatest Party Story Ever". You may have also seen Weber as the Host for Portico TV or maybe youve seen him as a correspondent for Popular Science, one of the biggest science websites in the world.

Also able to flex his comedy writing muscle, Myles wrote for Portico and Smosh Pit Weekly on Smoshs YouTube Channel. (The biggest gaming channel in the world.) Myles' high energy crowd work has kept audiences in stitches all across the U.S. and Canada.

The Carson Comedy Club Presents Comedian Steven Briggs an LA based comedian and actor, Steven Briggs entertains audiences with his high-energy unique style of beatboxing fused with personal storytelling. Steven has performed in clubs and theaters across nineteen US states and seven different countries.

In addition to touring outside of the US, Briggs has hosted film festivals and more recently performed for the troops in Addis Ababa, Djibouti, Kuwait and Bahrain. His TV appearances include local networks and ESPN.

There are some fairly excited kids throughout the valley. This last Friday before Christmas marks the beginning of winter break. The Carson City Library invites everyone in the community to participate in the annual Winter Read-a-thon with a goal of 90,000 minutes read (or listened to) over the next two weeks. Sign up on-line or at their kick-off event this afternoon. Comedian John Mencarelli headlines Carson Comedy inside the Carson Nugget, and you’ll find the Rebekah Chase Band on stage in their Loft. Life Choices is putting on our Fall FUNdraiser with Comedian John Crist at the Carson City Community Center on Dec. 3. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

John Crist does over 200 live shows a year and has been on BuzzFeed, Live at Gotham and Laughs on Fox. He is great. We will also have Channel 2 reporter Ky Sisson as our MC, running a minute-to-win-it style competition from the main stage as well.
