The annual Holiday Craft Fair at Carson High features a plethora of handmade and locally crafted gifts for the loved ones on your shopping list. Take the plunge at the Carson Aquatic Center if you want to get a picture with Scuba Santa. Grab a coat, some friends, and your ID and head downtown for this month’s beer crawl. $15 gets you a glass and your first beer, from there you’ll pay only $1 for refills at several watering holes. The Nevada State Museum and WNC Latino Cohort presented a Day of The Dead celebration on Saturday in Carson City. Admission was free at the The Nevada State Museum, made possible by support of the Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority, Western Nevada Materials, and the Nevada Mining Association.

Life Choices Fall FUNdraiser with Comedian John Crist

Life Choices is putting on our Fall FUNdraiser with Comedian John Crist at the Carson City Community Center on Dec. 3. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

John Crist does over 200 live shows a year and has been on BuzzFeed, Live at Gotham and Laughs on Fox. He is great. We will also have Channel 2 reporter Ky Sisson as our MC, running a minute-to-win-it style competition from the main stage as well.

Nevada State Museum hosts Day of the Dead festivities in Carson City

It’s Nevada Day weekend, and that means the annual parade and festivities will bombard downtown Carson City with thousands of revelers. I made the decision to put all of the parade related events into a separate list for a few reasons: one, this list would be way too long otherwise; two, Halloween fun is plentiful all weekend long; and three, I want my list to be as easy to read as possible. Read on for events throughout Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton, Silver and Virginia Cities.

Note, there was a last-minute change in streets where the entries are supposed to line up that is different than the printed program. The change was made to accommodate some larger floats. UPDATE 9:16AM: At least 59 people died and at least 500 wounded in Sunday night's sniper shooting, said Las Vegas Metro Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo. It is the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. Both vehicles associated with the now deceased shooter, Stephen Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, have been located as has the female person of interest, Paddock's companion Marilou Danley.

The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] presents its exhibition, "Wish You Were Here", by artist Susanne Forestieri at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Friday, October 6, 5-7pm. The exhibit will be in the gallery from October 6, 2017 – January 18, 2018.

The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.
