CARSON CITY — Shaheen Beauchamp Builders has begun an exterior facelift on the Carson Mall under request from The Carrington Company, owners of the mall. The mall and all of its stores will be open and accessible during the project, which is expected to be completed in under three months.

The restaurant officially opened Feb. 2, said Carson Nugget Director of Operations Tim Morrissey, replacing the Carson Nugget Steakhouse.

Morrissey said Angelina's Italian Bistro is a nod to Carson Nugget owner Dean DiLullo’s family.

Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel has a way for parents to get their kids to look up from their screens and take in the real world at Lake Tahoe. Small businesses in Nevada were a big deal in 2014. The Nevada Small Business Development Center, a statewide resource for business assistance and headquartered in the University of Nevada, Reno’s College of Business, helped open 136 new small businesses in the state last year.

“It’s easy to forget the impact small businesses can have, especially with the growing focus on many big-named businesses in the state,” Sam Males, director of the Nevada SBDC, said. “These smaller businesses created 470 jobs and $18 million in new financing, clearly making a marked impact.”

Local design professional and award-winning business owner Linda McCall was recently honored in New York City by Mario Buatta, one of the world’s best known interior designers. McCall owns the Decorating Den Interiors franchise in Lake Tahoe.

Buatta joined McCall at a dinner at the famous Four Seasons Restaurant to celebrate McCall completing her year as Decorator of the Year for Decorating Den Interiors. She was joined by company chairman James S. Bugg, Sr. and his wife Carol Donayre Bugg, vice president of design.

This week's guest on Women to Women Nevada is Doreen Mack of Carson City who discusses with hostess Carol Paz, among other things, downtown Carson City parking issues, creating a historic downtown, some local history and her own interior decorating business, Lofty Expressions.

Tim Baugh of Bridgeport, California and his publisher, Companion Press of Bozeman, Montana, have received a design award for Spirit of a Hunter, published in June of 2010.

PubWest, the leading trade association of independent publishers in North America, has announced the winners of its 2011 Book Design Awards contest, in which Spirit of a Hunter won a Silver Award in the Sports/Fitness/Recreation category.
