Nevada Lands bill passage to bring jobs, economic development to Lyon County, Yerington
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 2:54pmThe City of Yerington and Lyon County are pleased to announce that Friday, the U.S. Senate passed the Congressional legislation to transfer 10,400 acres of land from the federal government to the City of Yerington.
The same bill passed the House of Representatives on Dec. 2014. Section 3009, the “Land Conveyance to Yerington, Nevada” was included in the National Defense Authorization Act and will now go to President Obama for signing before year-end.

Nevada Ties With Georgia For Highest 2010 Entrepreneurial Activity

The annual index shows that Nevada and Georgia both had 510 per 100,000 adults creating businesses each month. They were followed by California at 470 per 100,000, Louisiana at 460 and Colorado at 450.

Sandoval said there are several permits awaiting action that mining officials have told him could lead to the creation of 1,000 high-paying jobs in rural Nevada.
Creating jobs in Nevada is Sandoval’s top priority as governor. Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the nation and ranks first in home foreclosures as well.

CARSON CITY – Nevada is projected to lose more than 50,000 residents by 2014 because of the ongoing state economic slump, state Demographer Jeff Hardcastle said today.
The short term projections are bleak under either of two models developed by Hardcastle to forecast Nevada’s population growth through 2030.
