Several fundraisers, including the annual “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive will be available throughout the Carson City, Minden and Reno areas on Friday. You can visit the North Pole safely as part of a drive-thru Santa's Village experience at V&T Railway in Carson City, beginning Friday into the weekend. A living nativity scene will be featured at First United Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday. Combined with train rides in Virginia City, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement. Carson City Elks and Emblem clubs celebrate Christmas with holiday children's party

Santa was there to take pictures with the children and pass out stockings with toys and candy inside of them. Mrs. Claus passed out candy canes.

This is also the last weekend before Christmas Day, which means the last Santa Trains of the season at the Nevada Railroad Museum. Santa Claus also leaves his North Pole headquarters at the Carson Mall Sunday in preparation for his big night.

Beekeepers gather for holiday party, recognize Carson City designation as state's Bee City USA

Through the efforts of this dynamic organization, Carson City was recently designated as Nevada’s first Bee City USA. It is the 76th Bee City USA.

Presented by the Brewery Arts Center, the highly anticipated event will be the first concert at the casino’s new Grand Ballroom, which held its official ribbon-cutting in early November. The show begins at 7 p.m.

A light buffet lunch will be catered by A Catered Affaire, consisting of salads, sandwiches and desserts.
Robert Nylen, Curator of History at the Nevada State Museum will give an informative talk on The Carson City Mint Building: A Community Icon – approaching 150 years old in 2020.
There will also be a report on the activities and accomplishments of the Carson City Historical Society for the past year.

Take a ride with him at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, join him on the ‘Elf Crawl’ from the Capitol to the Carson Mall, or tell him your wish list at Debug Computers. Adults have a hard choice to make: the monthly downtown wine walk and the Holiday with a Hero Pub Crawl both take place today, and I’m not sure I’d recommend attempting both.

Carson-Tahoe Health helps Santa create a happy holiday with local youth

CTH provided treats and activities, including decorating enormous sugar cookies, writing letters to Santa, mingling with Carson City firefighters and a visit with Santa at the annual Carson Tahoe Health Kids Christmas Party in the main hall of the hospital Dec. 10.

It’s different, sure, but that’s how we do things here in the capital city. With that in mind, drinking and driving can be a ghastly decision that can end up being more of a trick than a treat. The witches’ brew that you consume can lead to a frightening crash when you choose to drive afterwards.
Artisan Showcase at Carson City Chamber now open
Submitted by editor on Fri, 12/26/2014 - 1:18pmWhen the Carson City Chamber purchased the share of the building previously occupied by the visitors bureau, they found themselves with extra space that once housed the visitor center and gift shop operated by the bureau.
What to do with that extra space was the question. Since that vacant space was always operated as a gift shop, the Chamber decided to operate an artisan shop to showcase local talented artists and provide them with yet another outlet to sell their unique art.

The Arlington Square Ice Rink will skate its way into the 2013-2014 season beginning Friday, Nov. 29. The facility is located at the corner of North Carson Street and West Robinson Street across from the Carson Nugget. The facility offers skate rentals, a warming tent, snacks and beverages and plenty of thrills for the family.
