Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. The Polar Express Train Rides are sold out for the rest of the year, but Santa Train express rides are steaming up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum over the weekend. Read on for details.

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. — Join park staff for some holiday cheer and pioneer traditions at Buckland Station. Take a self-guided tour, help decorate the historic house for the holidays, and enjoy sweet treats and period crafts.

Hello Carson City and welcome to Sunday, June 23, 2019. Temperatures will warm back up again and stay that way until midweek when another cool weather pattern is expected to arrive. Heading into today, there's the 2019 Great Race at Lampe Park in Gardnerville, an open house at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum in Carson City and the Brewery Arts Center will be packed once again Sunday for the Summer Showcase Band Concert from 5 to 7 p.m.

Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Country dancing is coming to Virginia City on Thursday, April 25 with a free community event at Pipers Opera House. The Carson Lanes Country Kickers, a dance group that meets and dances weekly at Carson Lanes’ Eleventh Frame Lounge, will bring their skill, enthusiasm and fun to the first, in what hopefully will be the first of many country dance nights on the spring-loaded dance floor at Piper’s.

KNVC, found on 95.1 FM, is as community-based and grass-roots as any project could be.

The community radio station serving Carson City, Eagle Valley and Carson Valley, will be celebrating its one year anniversary since going on air Tuesday, Jan. 15. They’ll be hosting an open house with food and drink at their headquarters inside the Historic Adams House on 990 North Minnesota Street.

We are running out of summer weekends. I know that’s hard to believe right now, but hoodies and everything pumpkin is just beyond the horizon. Grab summer with both hands and go enjoy this beautiful city. The Brewery Arts Center brings Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers to the stage for tonight’s free concert. Check out the Railroad Museum for your fill of music and antique motor cars. The Greatest Showman on Earth makes an appearance at the Dangberg Home Historic Ranch: it’s Chautauqua night, and Doug Mishler will be portraying “Circus Showman P. T. Barnum.” The Stewart Indian School in east Carson City has history reaching into the early days of our state.

It’s a planes, trains, and automobiles kind of weekend. Add in bands, bikes and bar-be-ques and we’ve got most of this weekend’s list covered. The Carson City Airport is celebrating 90 years at this year’s open house and fly-in. One of the summer’s best events with balloon rides, cool old planes, and much more: you won’t want to miss it. Beat the heat at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada; all admission fees have been waived today thanks to Carson City Toyota. Summer concerts at the Brewery Arts Center begin tonight with the Original Wailers.

UPDATE 4:15PM From Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: The Carson City Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office responded to two arson-related fires at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum over the weekend. The first fire was reported on Sunday morning at approximately 2:34 a.m., damaging primarily the east side of the structure. On Monday morning at approximately 4:29 a.m., another fire was reported, this time the origin site was located on the south side of the building. The two incidents have resulted in moderate damage to the building.

A mountain of star-filled concerts, blockbuster festivals, heart-pounding athletic competitions, fireworks, and tee-to-green celebrity golf action are on-tap this summer at Tahoe South.

Writers, readers and performers from all around the country will appear at South Lake Tahoe this weekend for WordWave, a three-day festival held on the grounds of Valhalla at the Tallac Historic Site.

This literary mash-up features oral storytelling, theater performances and free readings, panels on craft, yoga, and a novel writing camp for kids.

Writers, readers and performers from all around the country will appear at South Lake Tahoe Oct. 9-11, 2015 for WordWave, a three-day festival held on the grounds of Valhalla at the Tallac Historic Site. This literary mash-up will feature oral storytelling, theater performances and free readings, panels on craft, yoga, and a novel writing camp for kids. Highlights include a one-act playwriting contest, a Maker’s Station demo with bookbinding, letterpress, drum making, and found poetry and art. Ticketed events include a steampunk ball, workshops, and even a hike.

CARSON CITY — For the second year, online voters picked the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden as one of six standout sites in the 2013 Nevada Treasures in the Discover Your Nevada contest, officials announced Monday.

The Nevada Northern Railway in Ely, the Star Hotel and Basque Restaurant in Elko, the Lost City Museum in Overton, the Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas and the Pahrump Valley winery were also picked, said Claudia Vecchio, Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs director.
