Hello Carson City, are you feeling lonely today? Well, lucky you, there are a lot of new friends waiting to meet you at the Carson City branch of the Nevada Humane Society!

This year, Carson High School announced that earbuds and headphones will be banned from campus in an effort to create a better and safer learning environment.

“It’s a safety issue,” said Dan Davis of the Carson City School District. “While they’re on campus, if the principal or a teacher needs to audibly communicate with a student, they need to be able to hear them for safety reasons.”

Hello fellow anglers, Just returned from a couple weeks of fishing from our local area to the Rogue River Valley in Oregon. The day we arrived, they had a wild fire that started at 200 acres and by the next day it was over 10,000. Grants pass was smokey and hard to breath, so Renee, my cousin Steve and I ventured to Brookings OR to do some salmon fishing.

Temperatures again Sunday will be in the low 80s, ideal for events throughout the region. Hello Carson City! Today we have a very special Pet of the Week, Rosie the Rooster.

Rosie is a young rooster who was very loved by his owner, but unfortunately, roosters are not allowed within Carson City's city limits, and Rosie was forced to be given up for adoption.

Happy Wednesday Carson City! You know what could make this day better? A pal, a buddy, a good old fashioned man’s best friend. As it happens, the Carson City Humane Society has many to choose from!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days, including the Carson City Fair, Karson Kruzers Run What Cha Brung car show, a fundraiser bike ride, cooking classes, tours at the Nevada State Museum, train rides on Saturday and much more!

The Carson City Fair is back this weekend at Fuji Park following some big changes made by the board.

Say hello to the new-but-traditional fair events such as food eating contests for adults and youth, dog shows, 4-H animal shows and auctions, demolition derbies, and a contest called the American Ninja Farmer which is exactly what it sounds like and is sure to be the talk of the fair.

Hello fellow anglers. Sorry I have been away for a couple weeks, had to catch up on a few things in order to start fishing again. The fishing is getting good all over our area. Before we get to our fishing report, let us remember that while we are out camping, we have to abide by some simple rules. There are no campfires allowed outside of designated campgrounds.

Filmore is a 3-year-old German Shepherd Mix and he is currently looking for a place for him and his handsome smile to call home! Being a German Shepherd though, Filmore needs to go to a family that can keep him active and work off his handsome-boy energy!

Ghost is a 8 year old American Pit Bull Terrier with a whole bunch of tricks up his sleeve. He's a very good boy and knows how to sit, lay down, come, shake, and sit up pretty! Pretty impressive, I say.

He's an easy going pup just looking for a new home to perform his tricks.

Hello Carson City and welcome to Sunday, June 23, 2019. Temperatures will warm back up again and stay that way until midweek when another cool weather pattern is expected to arrive. Heading into today, there's the 2019 Great Race at Lampe Park in Gardnerville, an open house at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum in Carson City and the Brewery Arts Center will be packed once again Sunday for the Summer Showcase Band Concert from 5 to 7 p.m.

Hello Carson City. It is Thursday, June 13, 2019. After last night's thunderstorms that shook around the capital city we're looking at plenty of sunshine today with a daytime high around 86. Activities lined up include workshops, an anniversary party and showing at Artsy Fartsy art gallery, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Kiwanis Club meeting and Chamber annual meeting at The Martin Hotel, Cruise Night at Bully's Sports Bar, live music outdoors at Living the Good Life and more. Plus there's local talks about history, addiction and wellness; a yoga class for those with arthritis, a family viewing of the classic basketball fantasy movie "Space Jam" at the Carson City Library and a whole lot more. A big hello Carson City as we head into Monday, June 10, 2019. The first day of the work week will be a warm one, with highs in the upper 80s, according to weather forecasters. Looking ahead we have art showings, a talk about geothermal energy and live music lined up at A to Zen. Enjoy the day!

Hello fellow anglers. The official start of summer is only two weeks away and the weather has started to cooperate. Many of the passes are opening and the higher lakes are thawing out. Winter seems to get longer and longer each year. So enjoy the next two weeks of spring, because I have a feeling its going to be a hot year. Fishing has started to pick up all over the area, and with the school year ending for most kids, we are now in full camping mode. There are still some areas that are closed, due to the excessive winter we just had. I will try to keep you updated as the season progresses.

Hello Carson City as we head into Thursday, June 6, 2019. Activities, art and entertainment abound as we get closer to the weekend. There's the kickoff of two main events, the Nevada State Fair at Mills Park and the Spring Street Vibrations at Battle Born Harley-Davidson. There's also a morning hike, art showings, an end of school year celebration with live music at Living the Good Life, and the Thursday night Cruise that begins at Vino's Pizza. Read on for more.

Hello Carson City and say hello to our newest pet of the week: Rowdy! He is a 3-year-old very sweet and shy terrier mix. While Rowdy may be timid at first, once you get to know him he is bursting with personality! He's been waiting for his new family to come and take him home since May.
