Headphones, ear buds banned from CHS campus; Fremont Elementary ditches uniforms

“It’s a safety issue,” said Dan Davis of the Carson City School District. “While they’re on campus, if the principal or a teacher needs to audibly communicate with a student, they need to be able to hear them for safety reasons.”

The day we arrived, they had a wild fire that started at 200 acres and by the next day it was over 10,000. Grants pass was smokey and hard to breath, so Renee, my cousin Steve and I ventured to Brookings OR to do some salmon fishing.

Say hello to the new-but-traditional fair events such as food eating contests for adults and youth, dog shows, 4-H animal shows and auctions, demolition derbies, and a contest called the American Ninja Farmer which is exactly what it sounds like and is sure to be the talk of the fair.

The fishing is getting good all over our area. Before we get to our fishing report, let us remember that while we are out camping, we have to abide by some simple rules. There are no campfires allowed outside of designated campgrounds.

Ghost is a 8 year old American Pit Bull Terrier with a whole bunch of tricks up his sleeve. He's a very good boy and knows how to sit, lay down, come, shake, and sit up pretty! Pretty impressive, I say.
He's an easy going pup just looking for a new home to perform his tricks.

Fishing Report: Anglers are reeling them in during the warming weather

Many of the passes are opening and the higher lakes are thawing out. Winter seems to get longer and longer each year. So enjoy the next two weeks of spring, because I have a feeling its going to be a hot year. Fishing has started to pick up all over the area, and with the school year ending for most kids, we are now in full camping mode. There are still some areas that are closed, due to the excessive winter we just had. I will try to keep you updated as the season progresses.

There's the kickoff of two main events, the Nevada State Fair at Mills Park and the Spring Street Vibrations at Battle Born Harley-Davidson. While Rowdy may be timid at first, once you get to know him he is bursting with personality! He's been waiting for his new family to come and take him home since May.
