Activities around the capital city region are lined up through the day and evening. Enjoy and celebrate as we prepare to toast a welcome to 2020. Also do consider a designated driver, cab ride, Lyft or Uber to be on the safe side for your ride home if out celebrating. Happy New Year!

Events around the Carson City area include a driver's education class offered through Western Nevada College Continuing Education, a luncheon featuring Patricia Ackerman, a Democratic primary candidate for Nevada's 2nd Congressional District, art activities and more.

Obituary: David Michael Ortiz
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 03/25/2019 - 3:18pmDavid Michael Ortiz passed away March 16 surrounded by family in Gardnerville. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Joseph and Cruzita Ortiz on April 12, 1950.
David grew up in Santa Fe Springs, California with his 7 siblings and served in the U.S. Navy before moving to Lake Tahoe. He was a Facilities Engineer at Harrah's Lake Tahoe for 33 years where he met and married the love of his life, Paula (Bachmeier).

Daryl Dragon, half of pop duo 'Captain and Tennille' and former Washoe Valley resident dies

He was 76.
Tahoe South extends summer with festivals, live music and lakefront laser show
