Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 06/30/2021 - 3:08pmBeat the heat and get the legs moving with a morning walk on Monday, July 12, 7 a.m. Route will go from the dirt parking lot at Van Patten and Murphy Dr. (behind Western Nevada College) on flat terrain past sage and bitterbrush into the adjoining neighborhood.

There's a lot going on today in our beautiful Capital City, with day two of Epic Rides, the Carson City Airport Open House and Wing Cook-off, the farmer's market, a youth expo, and more.

There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, plus the Nevada State Museum will host 2 behind the scenes tours in natural history and anthropology. Plus, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road kicks off its three-day event with a Capital 15 Fun Ride and Free Clunker Crit Ride. Heading into the evening, “Newsies” will take stage at the Carson City Community Center and you can sit under the stars and watch “The Little Rascals” at 8 p.m. during movie night at John Mankins Park.

Taylor Creek Visitor Center at Lake Tahoe to host Native Species Festival
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/26/2015 - 8:22amThe U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will host the sixth annual Native Species Festival on Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center located three miles north of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 89. This free family event is a great way to spend the day outdoors and learn about native species of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

I’m not even going to pretend I know what the weather is doing, so you may just need to Google some sunny images. Tuesdays are known for two guided walks, but I recommend checking the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department’s Facebook page here, or Muscle Powered’s Facebook page here before you go. Not affected by the weather, the Carson High School Musical Theater Performance and Band Concert at the Bob Boldrick Theater this evening. Go support our talented kids one last time before the school year ends.
