Chinese New Year, Carson Comedy Club's military appreciation night, live music and more: Carson City region readies for weekend

Events include a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. Carson Valley’s 18th annual Eagles and AG Photo Contest will be underway and live music will keep the Silver State buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.

Every week you’ll find a new trail to discover with Muscle Powered; this week it’s the Linear Ditch Trail which runs from Governors Field to the Moffet Open Space Trail. Jakki Ford takes the mic when the Mile High Jazz Band hits the stage at Comma Coffee. Sierra Forums gives free presentations on a diverse blend of topics with area experts. Sustainable Living is the subject of tonight’s forum at the Brewery Arts Center.
Pop Warner 2016: Senator Saturday celebration fundraiser at Governors Field

This is our fundraiser event that is fun for the whole family. We will have food trucks, vendors, bounce houses, raffle prizes and an opportunity to dunk your coaches in the dunk tank.

There will be activities for everyone: bounces houses, water slides, and even the chance to dunk a coach in the dunk tank. We will also have vendors, player contests, raffle prizes, food trucks, a DJ and more! Admission is only $6.
This event supports the Carson City Pop Warner Program.

Jazz and Beyond continues with Stereo Galaxy at Third and Carson, an outdoor concert at the new Brewery Art Center Minnesota Street Stage, and a special event at the Governor’s Mansion with the Horse Crazy Cowboy Band. Unleash your inner artist at Comma Coffee’s ‘Paint, Drink, and Be Merry’ or at the Senior Center with a special watercolor painting fundraiser. Pop Warner is looking for your support; head over to Governor’s Field for Friday Night Lights. Take a gander at the whole list, there’s something for everyone today.

Pop Warner Football and Cheer celebrates Friday Night Lights this Friday at Governors Field
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 08/11/2015 - 11:45amCarson City Pop Warner Football and Cheer program practices are now underway. All levels are practicing Monday through Thursday. There will be a Friday Night Lights fundraising event this Friday, August 14 from 6-9 p.m. at Governors Field.
There will be music, food and vendors, games, bounce houses, face painting, balloons, and more. Our goal is to raise funds for our football and cheer program.
Carson City Intermediate Little League defeats Summerlin North for state championship
Submitted by editor on Mon, 07/14/2014 - 6:54amCarson City's Little League Intermediate All Stars are on their way to Nogales, Arizona after defeating Summerlin North of Las Vegas 17 to 3 in a State Championship showdown at Governors Field Sunday.
The victory earned them a trip to the Western Region tournament in Arizona where they will compete with teams from California, Hawaii, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.
Carson City Little League 50/70 division game Sunday night may take players to Arizona

We are looking for donations and support to cover travel expenses as we have two days to raise funds before we have to be down there. Come and watch our game tonight, Sunday, at 7:30 p.m. at Governors Field, 500 Evalyn Dr., in Carson City.

If you think your chili is the best, sign up now.

2012 Tour of Carson Report

The Tour of Carson began in 2008 as a way for the shop to say thank you to its customers and the community for their support. The event begins with a 27-30 mile ride around the perimeter of Carson City, and then finishes back at the Bike Habitat for a BBQ.

LIttle League Baseball Registration
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 12/05/2011 - 10:21amCarson City Little League will be accepting registrations for the 2012 season on Saturday, January 28th from 8 am to noon and Saturday, February 4th from 8 am to noon. We will be at the indoor facility located in the Northeast corner of Governors field (500 East Evalyn Drive).
The league is for boys and girls ages 4 1/2 (By April 30th) to 16.
We are extending our ages from last year to allow 13-16 year olds to play in our leage. We have also added our new 50/70 program to allow for a transition from the smaller little league fields to the larger Senior league fields.

Carson City Little League opening day ceremony

We will begin with an opening ceremony on Wednesday June 29 at 3:30 p.m. at Governors field. Games will continue to July 13th. Come volunteer or just watch an action packed baseball game with some of the most talented youth in the area battle it out for the District title.
Arbor Day 2011 in Carson City
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 04/20/2011 - 6:04pmThe Carson City Shade Tree Council will host its annual Arbor Day Celebration on April 29. The hour-long celebration will be held at Governors’ Field (behind Lowe’s) and will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Among those attending will be Smokey Bear who will help the Council plant the Northern Red Maple selected by the staff of Carson City’s Park and Recreation Department. The tree planting is scheduled at 6 p.m. The Council paid for the tree with money it raised at annual Fall Tree Care Seminar.
