More registered voters have been recorded in Carson City so far this year than at the same time two years ago during the last election season, according to January 2016 voter registration data collected by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office.

More than 27,600 registered voters were recorded in Carson City as of January 2016, the Secretary of State’s Office reports.

Increased voter registration, in fact, appears to be a statewide trend, too, the Secretary of State’s Office also reports.

Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, in collaboration with the Navy League of the United States Carson City Council, presented Gov. Sandoval with a commemorative coin depicting both the recently christened USNS Carson City and the historic USS Carson City, a Tacoma-class frigate commissioned by the U.S. Navy from 1944-1945.

Western Nevada College has received a $142,000 STEM Workforce Challenge Grant to enhance its welding certificate and degree programs. The programs help meet the needs of the region’s advanced manufacturers. 

The grant will allow purchase of a robotic welder and associated curriculum. WNC will use college resources to upgrade its facilities to accommodate the new program. 

The Nevada Ready 21 program is pleased to announce the contract for the Nevada Department of Education’s one-to-one digital learning initiative has been awarded to CTL, a computer manufacturing company based in Beaverton, Oregon.

Acting for the concerned citizens of RIP Commerce Tax, Inc., Ron filed a referendum petition on that tax in October. Tax-hike advocates brought a meritless law suit seeking to deny you a vote on it.
